So I went to a turnement this weekend. The plan was to go with several of my friends but all backed up, so ended up just beeing me, didnt know anyone there but still loads of fun. (sorry for wall fo text and poor written)
I was planning on taking pictures from each round, but as I get to carried away in to my matches I forgot about that, so I will do a shoart summary here from each match.

GAME 1 (mission The crusade 5 objectives, DOW deployment):
So in the first game I meet an Chaos Demon player. Now I have alot of experience from playing demons so I think this is going to be quite easy matchup for me. But I really underestimated this and that ended up biting me in my ass. He played a list I havnt played before.
I will update this list later as I have it somewhere I cant find now. But it was 3x Groups of Flamers, 3x Groups of Screamers and 2x Pink horrors groups and a few fillers.
Now he had like 11 Units in total I think, atleast he had all the flamers and Screamers in the same unit as the main he wanted to get in first.
My deployment in picture:
As you can see I deployed in a Castle formation. I started and he didnt want to steel initiativ. I still didnt move as I didnt want to get picked one by one. He then came in with his unwanted group, took out a few hullpoints and a Ravager. But thats all really. I then shoot it all away.
Now this is where I did my first mistake, it was not knowing his units and the rules for the Slashing propper. I knew he was slashing. But I thought 1) They needed to go in a straight line, and 2) that each modell had to be over my modell to slash. So with that basis I moved abit forward.
As you can see in the pciture he had a Landing pad fortification to get in the screamers. He got in all his other stuff but one of the flamer groups. So all the screamers slashed open my beast group, all because I thought 1) and 2). But looking at wording in the rules I see that my assumptions where wrong. So I got really focked because of this. He also flamed away 2 veichle.
After all this it was really hard for me to strike back as he had me in a corner, taken out some important veichles and the beast group with warlord. I tried to kill him, but to many wounds aswell as poor movement by me just killed me. It ended up with him winning 6-2 (one objective and linebreaker, warlod, firstblood) and i got linebreaker and Warlord.
I have gone through this game in my head several times afterwards and there are a few things that I should have done better;
- Not moved my beastmasters in turn 2 as I did.
- Moved my veichles better, only used 6" movement so I could get the shooting away
- Focused shooting on Screemers as they did most of the killing
GAME 2 (Purge the alien and Hammer and Anvile deployment):
Meet a Dark Templar. Never played them before, but he was quite new to the game and had very few units. As it was Purge the alien I had to whipe him of the table.
I won the roll to go first, and started as forward as possible. As you can see in pictures my plan was to use Wyches to take out the landraider and then just shoot the rest of the army. I flat out with the Raider in the first turn and shoot out a dreadnaught and a group of marines.
His first turn didnt go so well, he got the raider and my Wyches failed the pinning test ofc. But a few rounds later when they got up they took out the LR and my shooting aswell as the beasts just killed everything.
I think I played a very good match, not much differant to do really. I won 14-5 and tabled him. (11 VP, Linebreaker, Warlord, Firstblood) he got (Warlord, Wyches group, Baron, Raider and a Venom).
He was new as I said, and his biggest mistake was to opt to the Black templar wov to not get cover save. So I just shoot him away. The easiest game of the turnement.
Another picture:
Game 3 (The Emperors will; Vanguard)
So I meet a Tyranids player.
He had 2 Flyrants, 2 Tervigon, 2 Trygons, 2 groups of Termagonts and Hiveguard(?)
As you know with a list like mine this really isnt going to be a bad matchup. Anyway, I won to go first.
Deployment:
As you can see both rather deployed quite close to eachother. My biggest question tho was what to do with Wyches. I really didnt see a use for them here. So i thought, lets just go flat out with them, try and get the Termigont group that are holding his objective. I started off shooting at his tervigon. I really started Horribol as he saved the first 10 wounds. So I switched target and shoot out a Tervigon and with the venoms on the left I shoot out a Trygon. I just decided to ignore the Flyrants as I knew they could just take a target each and I would take them out easy after I got the other stuff.
He then moved towards me, he got a venom and a few wounds at the beast master group.
So in my turn I moved my Warriors from the venom infront of his flyrant (still flying) and infront of my venoms to use them as shield so they couldnt assault. veichles without killing them first.
My shooting continue to to take down big stuff, his last Tervigon and Trygon was killed aswell as a few Gargoyls. Dont remember what the beastmasters did, but I think they killed a group of Termagonts he spawned in his round.
Now the game was rather over, and all he tried was to hold me off his objective as he could still get a few VP. He saw the Raider with wyches going towards his Flag and shot it out with a Flyrant, he also got another venom with those hiveguards. And tryed to shoot the bestmasters and assault them with Termagonts, how did that go? not good at all.
In my turn I shoot out all but the termagonts on the flag, asasulted the Hiveguards with ebastmaster group and killed them. The rest of the game was me moving in for the taking of the flag wich I got and won 9-0 (2 Main objectives, Linebreaker, First blood, Warlord)
So after this game I was 2 wins out of 3. Got alot of VP really. And general in the turnement there where only two guys who had won all 3 games. Standing was:
GK player 3 Wins
CSM Player 3 wins
Chaos Demons i lost to in first game, 2 wins
Me 2 wins
(many more on 2 wins, but as this will be the top bunch I wont tink about the rest)
Tiebreaker was VP, so I knew because of me tabling two oponenents I would properly meet GK or CSM in last game if I won game 4.
GK and CSM players was playing eachother in game 4. I myself got a SM player who had 2 wins. Chaos player got a CSM/Necron.
Game 4 (The relic; DoW)
So as I staid earlier I played a SM player this game.
His list was something like this:
Aegis defensive line
2x Hq dont remember
1x Scout squad
2x Spacemarine squads
1x Terminator squad
1x LR
1x Rhino
1x Predator
1x Vindicator
The deployment.
he got to start first this game. As you can see I placed everything down in the corner in the hopes of just starting at one and and picking his army apart.
In his first turn he got 1 Ravager with his Ageis defensive line, he picked up the relic with his troops and get a few hullpoints. But after this he couldnt do much at all, because he moved LR and Rhino forward so i could get to them with my wyches.
In my first turn I shoot LR, assaulted Rhine to death and shoot out a troop. Moved abit and was in good position for the next round. In his round he got a Venom and focused to much on killing my beast group who was going fast forward.
In my second turn I forgot out the dreadnaught that got in, shoot out all but two terminators, got the scout group with the relic and really was in a good tabling position.
He shot some more wounds on my beastgroup and a venom in turn 4 and 5, but I got all of his stuff and whiped him of the table aswell as getting the Relic.
That was me winning 5-1, and now up with 3 wins and tabling 3 oponents.
Standing before last round was:
GK 4 wins
Chaos Demons 3 wins
Me 3 wins
CSM 3 wins
So last game of the turnmentent it ended up with GK vs Demons and me VS CSM.
Game 5 (Big Guns Never Tire 5 objectives, Vanguard)
His list was something like this:
Kharn HQ with 5x Spawns
Kharn bazerkers? in LR
Tactical squad with plasma rifle in Rhino
30x Cultists with some HQ.
2x Oblidorators
Defiler
So I won to go first. Deployed as you can see below.
The picture below is actually in my turn 1, but there was a Land Raider where the Kharn warriors are on table.
He mad a huge mistake of not deploying Cultists and Oblidorators. It just made it all so easy to take apart.
In my first turn I shoot out Land Raider and rhino. Aswell as wounds on Spawns and most of the bazerkers.
His turn he didnt have much to do, he got a Ravager with his Defiler and charged his spawns in to my Beastgroup, where we both got 1 wound each and I Hit and run.
I then shoot out his Spawns and HQ. I also killed the Tactical squad and Bazerkers left. Unfortunatly I was one wound short of killing his Defiler in assault with my beast group to end the match. he got my warlord on overwatch btw.
He then got nothing in and got all his wounds back on defiler. I then moved in to position to take him in shooting if I lost CC with beasts. Also moved all troops towards objectives. in CC he got to take out the beastgroup.
Then he got in his oblidirators, placed then in center of board and shoot out the 2 ravager with his last units. I got his Oblidirators, but poor rolling on defiler still left it alive. His turn he got the Cultis in finaly, but he didnt do anything els. I just ended up sweeping up the rest and getting 4 out of 5 objectives in the end.
So that was me tabling oponent 4 out of 5, getting 18 VP this game vs his 2.
In the other match Demons won of the GK player making us just 3 players with 4 wins.
Now I heard after my game with Demons that he was the best player there and was traveling around to European turnements playing etc.
Anyway since 4 was on same score (3 points for each win) they had to use tiebreaker to make out the winner. And fortunatly for me the tiebreaker was VP.
I had a total of 48 VP, vs Demons with 41 and GK with just 24.
So a victory for the Dark kin (and me), but its with a bitter taste as I lost to demons. I now want revenge, as I feel I can take him now that I know what is comming. Fun weekend tho with great people, and some great players.
