well thanks for all the responses. like i said im a previous eldar player. Harlequins to me were ALWAYS a good escort squad. i always used them to get characters up the board un harmed. and with them pretty much (hopefully) being able to shrug off overwatch with there cover saves, AND whatever amount of HQ's you tag along with them, why would you want a transport for them? the only problem i have come across with bringing HQ's is you lose the move thru cover benefit. kinda sucks, but when you look at investing a couple hundred points into some HQ combat monsters, walking them up the board isnt so bad in my opinion. especially if you have the Webway portal like MUSH said! i feel dumb for not thinking of that myself.

So he would "walk" 2 D6 choose the highest and the rest of the unit 6" inside terrain? Is that ok with the rules? Or do they all have to move 2 D6 choose the highest?- this was a question earlier that i meant to address more directly, YES they lose move thru cover if one model in the group doesnt have it.

My main problem is not with walking them, albeit it is a damn nuisance because you cannot reposition quickly if need be unless you use someone else's transport.

Here are my main concerns with these guys:
1. They are expensive since you need both Shadowseer and Troope Master to make them work; one brings the Veil the other the PW.
2. They got no basic armor save so any vanilla unit with S4 can put the hurt on them since they are T3 and only have 1/3 chance at surviving basic attacks. So they are kind of like Mandrakes but worst since they have S3
3. Lastly no PWs, rending is great but only on a 6+

I am not saying they do not work by themselves or as IC escort. The Death dance namely FC and Hit&Run ability is awesome! But you really have to work at it and try hard and put alot of effort to make them work every game. So in essence you are working for them when they should be working for you.

I hate such comparisons but since they are vying for the same elite slot I do not think its out of line. Incubi are better as IC escorts hands down. They have their basic 3+ armor save they are 1 token away from the 5+ pseudo inv save (FNP). They have S4 and AP2 weapons. What more can you ask for, save nades which is the only thing they are missing. Other than that they work right out of the box with no major headaches.

i see your point, however, i really like the idea of pretty much always have a 2+ against shooting attacks. It really saves us a lot of points on our shadowfield saves. godforbid you roll a one, it was a cover save and not risk it shorting out on us. 30 points is a lot to waste on something that CAN short out like that. so thats why i like them as escorts in DE. i appreciate what youre saying about their lack of punch without putting a ton of effort into it. however, if you think about it, you can really get them across the board with hit and run.

That's actually not a rule anymore. In 5th you moved a the rate of the slowest model, but in 6th everyone can move their full speed provided they stay in coherency (he does slow them down for assaulting through cover though since that does still follow the "Slowest Model" rule). Also harlies don't have Move Through Cover, if they did it would transfer to attached characters.
