| an agoniser is neither a sword, axe, maul or lance so its an "unusual power weapon" therefore it has an AP3 melee weapon? therefore if it wounds a marine he gets no armor save because it equals his saving throw correct? and wounds anything on a 4+ wound roll because its poison hey? Thanks | |

| Not because it's poisonned. That 4+ is a fixed number in it's description. Important difference. | |

| Poison weapons wound on a fixed value, however they also get re-rolls to wound if your strength is equal or more than your targets toughness, and can wound on a lower value if you would already wound the model on say a 3 for example. This is a huge advantage.
On the other hand as tlronin pointed out the agoniser is not a poison weapon, it merely has a fixed to wound roll of a 4+, so although it will always wound on a 4+ it won't benefit from the advantages mentioned above.

| Yes you're right (AP3, not a sword/axe/mace/lance), except about the poison.
This is important to make clear because poison has extra rules associated with it. Like with Poison if your strength is equal or greater then their toughness you get to use the better "to wound" roll and you get to reroll that wound if you want. With the Agonizer your strength means nothing. Even if you manage to buff your strength up to 10 (with Soul Trap for example) the Agonizer will still always wound on a 4+.

| SM
And indeed. AP3. SM has 3+ armoursave. So that's equal. It needs to be equal or lower. So, no armoursave.

| No, Marines (MEQ: "Marine Equivalent") do get their romantic amour saves, but no armour saves, luckily. | |

| Sweet, no wonder the agoniser is popular, anything that stops those tough bastards getting their save | |

| Oh that sounds like a nasty thing to go up against especially for Dark Eldar. Guess you'd want to dark lance the crap out of a necron tomb thingy real quick | |
