IG incredible range.

So Im suspicious about my oppenents that are IG. I many of them have range 78 inch fireing arch that Im wondering if that stuff is apocolypes gear or is it just standard codex. Do they really have enormous range like that? I dont remember what vehicles by the way.

Some of the stuff in their regular codex has very long range, yes.
None have 78" range to my knowledge but a few have 72" range and some of the artillery has 120" or 240" range.

72 is pretty standard for the guard tanks the longer artillery has 14-unlimited range for some things

Deathstrike missile has 920 inch range, you dont even have to be in the store to use it

Yea, most heavy weapon teams (infantry) have 48 or 36".
Tanks have typically 72" large blasts.
some have more, the executioner (plasma cannons) have only 36".

It's the Manticore that does for me every time - 240" range (I think) and can fire up to three large blasts a turn, which get scattered individually, and it fires indirectly. I hate them!

If I'm not mistaken, a Russ can move 6" and then shoot 72". If OP went second, that could explain his experience of 78" range.

Here in baltimore we used to have a ton of GWs around (we still have a good number, but they have shut a few down) but on big events like tanksgiving or cross store campaigns, we would call up other stores and actually shoot deathstrikes at their tables. It actually got pretty funny when our volley killed several titans, and theirs scattered off into no mans land

That's awesome, and totally how it should be played.

Can we beat IG? I don't think we have enough bullets, range, and ignores cover abilities to win against them.

Edit: or blast weapons or survival against all the bullets and fire power.

Depends on the build but it is definitely going to be a challenge. Part of the problem is that IG can do almost anything effectively.

IG Horde - Scary
IG Parking Lot - Scary
IG flyer spam - Scary

IG are beatable if you take the things that work against that build. So for example,

IG Horde - Razorwings/Voidravens + Venoms like crazy specifically targeting the big guns.
IG Parking Lot - Lances like crazy
IG Flyer spam... Quad gun/Voidraven/BA Storm Raven etc.

Range isn't normally going to be a problem as mobility is there to close the range.

Personally, I rank IG #1 in a competitive "tournament" army as I think they can be the most competitive if you're willing to put in the work. Certainly will be a challenge, which I think if you're already playing DE, you should be used to and up for.

Yeah cause every game is a challenge because DE is so unforgiving of mistakes... Which makes wins so sweet.
