Dark Eldar motives question

Hey guys, I had an idea for a kabal that I might want to try to do but there really isnt much information about why dark eldar do the things they do.

When they go on their raids... I know they require victims for torture to sustain themselves, and regenerate dead dark eldar, and make crazy soul tech stuff etc, but was wondering about the other stuff they collect on raids.

I was wondering if it would make sense from a background perspective for a kabal to try and collect books, like trying to hoard ancient/forgotten lore like something from hp lovecraft.

I got the idea from the dark eldar soul tech that is supposed to open a doorway to another dimension for a split second, during this time tentacles/pseudopods come out and snatch anything in its range. That got me thinking about cthulu style creatures but I couldn't think of anything that would fit more directly with that, dont want demon worshiping chaos eldar or anything.

The things that make me doubt this would fit the dark eldar are...
A) Dark Eldar dont use psychic abilities/magic which always seems to be in ancient tomes
B) Dark Eldar seem to be mainly about just keeping things the way they are in Commoragh
C) Compared to armies of slaves books dont seem all that interesting
D) Why would Dark Eldar, one of the oldest races have any interest in other races "books"

A) The use of psychic abilities is forbidden in Commorragh, but still used in dark caves
B) Yeah, just trying to gather as much power as possible and not be punished by Asdrubael Vect
C) and D) Especially the Haemonculi collect "magic items" from all sources

Figured the archon was draggign everybody around on raiding trips looking for some more insight into soul tech

I have no problem having a Archon that collects other race artifacts, including books. The idea is just over the top and egotistical that he should collect "the lesser beings" things to show off to work. I dont see any problem with it

What is there to question? The motives are simple and base, raid, assault, pillage and burn.
