1750 tourney list for a new convert

Greetings, Denizens of the Dark City!

Long time lurker here, who has benefited a lot from the discussions and battle reports on this site and was wondering if any experienced DE generals could cast their eye over a list for me. I have yet to play with DE as they are in the building stage but am signed up to an April tournament.

I am a mechdar player by background and have only recently been seduced over, so any general pointers concerning this switch from anyone who has been in the same situation would also be massively appreciated! =)

My concerns really centre around whether i have enough vehicles at 1750 and whether wyches can cut it in the combat role the list assigns them. I have built the list around the Duke, but would it be objectively stronger without him and a purely range ethos.
I have a shooty mechdar army and would really love to make DE assault work -- I am even trying to find a way to get Incubi in the list but cant convince myself to take them grenadeless!!

The wyches don't really cut it as assault unit - they are good in small units of 5 with haywire grenades against armour.

If you want a hard hitting assault army it might be worth going down the route of

Incubi/Harlequins or a unit of 4 grotesques in a raider with a Haemonculi with shattershard or liquefier, and a succubus for the extra initiative.

Hmmm, I was a little worried this might be the consensus -- A massive shame as I love the wych cult idea. Is the grotesque unit really a solid choice? Seems like an awful lot of points.

I love Incubi and perhaps shall amend the list to give them an archon for the grenades in place of the Duke. Id prefer to leave Harlequins out since I have used them for many years with my Craftworlders......

Has the shattershard seen a big bump in usefulness in 6th? I had thought the liquefier was the natural choice?

Has noone made wych cults work in 6th?!

As a note, units of five wyches aren't actually that great at tank-hunting. They don't have any redundancy, so every casualty makes it less likely that they can do any meaningful damage. They can only really hurt tanks and maybe Fire Warriors or Guardsmen, as they don't have the numbers to do anything else. I find that around 8 is still ideal.

When I run wyches I also usually run 8. The unit does what it is supposed to for me. Tar pit and/or kill vehicles

Wyches can work with the duke and succubus support, squads of 7-8 are a must, as well as hekatrix with PGL and venom blades or agonisers. The PGLs are really important as they help you deal with over watch.

That being said they do take a bit of work, and its not always easy, but can be rewarding to play.

Grotesques with a succubus/haemi are a great assault unit. I would also consider wracks as they are a great assault unit this edition and can be taken as troops with a homunculus. The changes to FNP making them just as survivable as wyches in combat and their toughness means they suffer less from raider explosions. Wounding on 4+ with their poison weapons and re-rolling to wound against T3 and against T4 once you have furious charge is awesome. Liqifiers are also terrifying weapons. They do however lack initiative, fleet and grenades, so play very differently.
