Hey guys, I just wanted your opinions on my archon. See what you think of his build:

Archon with Huskblade, Blast pistol, Soul Trap, Shadow Field and 4 Incubi all piled into a Venom.

I've been tempted to take ghostplate armor since it's only 10 points. The reason begin in the last two games I've played I rolled a freaking 1 on my shadow field saves lol. I've also been contemplating a Djin blade on him, but it scares me with how my rolls have been.

Personally I'm not a fan of the Blaster Pistol on a Soul-Trap Archon. You're just not going to be able to shoot it more then maybe once or at most twice a game. It's just too expensive for not enough value. I'd much rather either go all the way with a Blaster (and accept the lose of the extra attack) for better range or I'd skip the range attack entirely (as I don't feel it works with Soul-Trap/Huskblade all that well) and give him a venom blade for tough enemies prior to his soul trap activation. If you're worried about vehicles then get the cheaper (and probably more effective) option and pick up Haywire Grenades. He can throw them and use them in melee.

As for Ghost Plate, I'm not a fan. Yes you'll sometimes roll that 1 on your shadow field but 4+/6++ just isn't good enough IMO as a backup armor and 10 points isn't so cheap that it can just be thrown on without a care.

If you take the Djinn Blade you don't have to use it. It's still and extra CC weapon so you get the extra attack on it. Have to agree with the Ghost Plate being not worth it. At least in my local Meta when I fail the Shadow field roll it's always to something that insta gibbs him.

Venom Blade is bang for the buck the best CC weapon we have access to.

I would lose the blast pistol for the reasons above and take a PGL. The Incubi will thank you for it

Thanks for the input guys. I do enjoy my blast pistol it has worked out well for me. I'll give the changes a shot and see how it goes.

Lol omg I'm sorry guys. blastER not blast pistol. I couldn't figure out why everyone was against it and why Murkglow mentions blaster when I thought I did..... Aaaaaanyway sorry for the confusion.

Brings up another question though. If you remove the splinter pistol and CC weapon, does that change the number of attacks from 4 to 3? or does the profile not include the extra attack for the starting combo?

4 attacks base, +1 for pistol or second close combat weapon Smile.
i wouldnt bother with ghost plate its normally instant death after failing the shadowfield save.
