Hellion Base Question Empty
PostSubject: Hellion Base Question   Hellion Base Question I_icon_minitimeTue Feb 12 2013, 22:53

Hi new to DE, looking to start a Hellion army, just love the fluff & theme but had a probably stupid question.

Do you guys glue them to the flying base?

As ideally for transport it would be best to have the model & base seperate correct?

My only concern is losing the chance to do more interesting poses/angles if i don't glue?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The answer to this question depends entirely on 2 things:

1. Do you like having the base not glued on for the variety in poses or are you fine with posing them once and for all

2. How do you plan to transport your miniatures? If you go for the most common apporach with foam then yes, having the bases separate helps a lot. If you however like me use magnets to stick your models to metallic sheets that you can glue into a case, so you can transport them fully assembled, then I think it would be okay to glue them on.

You can find pictures of my magnetic case in this very section of the forum "Magnetic Carrying Case finished!"

Thanks i will check that out as an option, i had never heard of a magnetic carry case.

Oh and to answer your other question im fine posing them once, just was not sure if i did not glue them if i could still have them in a variety of angles or if they would need to all be straight.

I have found that gluing or magnetizing the bases is the way to go.

The bases eventually looses up and start to flop around anyway so I've found this is best.

As a fix to the flopping around issue; I add a little plastic glue to the ball of the flying stand, and keep adjusting the position every few minutes whilst the bond is tacky, before finally separating both components and leaving them to dry. this creates a much rougher interface between the ball and socket, and the increased friction keeps the model in place.

I've tried this successfully with reavers, hellions, and a chronos so far.
