| Im looking to start a Corsairs army. Are there any website/forums dedicated to them, or should I just ask my questions here? | |

| This little bit of our forum is the home of all things Corsairs and over time should blossom into a little hive of activity. There are already a few tactics threads and some nice project logs to look through too. | |

| What exactly are Corsairs? Are they some Eldar units or something? | |

| Corsairs are an Eldar army from Imperial Armour 11. They are essentially Guardians with BS4, access to much better weaponry, Falcons as standard Troop transports, jetpacks, Venoms for Troop units(AND HARLEQUINS!), as well as a lot of neat toys. They are a fun list to play, though you have to keep in mind that they are basically Guardians with better weapons. Very fragile and fast army. After my Apocalypse game on the 23rd I am looking to write a unit guide for them. | |

| I look forward to the unit guide. My IA11 book is on its way, so I'll probably have much more questions once it arrives | |

| I am going to a 1 force org 2k tourny in July that allows fiegeworld and imperial armour.
I'll be taking some eldar stuff in there for my allies. The wasps (fast attack war walkers) and the warp hunter. Along with regular guardian jet bikes and a seer on bike :-)

| dont use wasps... they are more expensive war walkers (alteast they can get an invul) and are BS3 if taken for CWE (corsairs are BS4 still)
Your best bang for you buck for either Corsairs or CWE are the hornets. Those little suckers are AV 11 close top dual weapon vypers, and for only alittle bit more, and best thing is they are BS4 for both CWE and Corsairs... So amazing

| Corsair Wasps are also the exact point value compared to the Hornet when identically armed. They take up a Troop slot but aren't a scoring unit. Hornets also outflank. Let's just say that I love the models and idea but can't justify taking them ever. | |

| I recommend Wraithguard, because 10 deep striking with a seer is crazy good. | |

| I just got my IA 11 book! Sooooo....I'm wondering what I should start with? Im going to go for an allied detachment. I've got a buncha guardians, and two tanks. Wondering what I should work towards for a solid allied list, then how I should build from there | |

| I would much rather take the hornets! but they cost a lot of money via forgeworld. so I'll stick to the CWE Wasps w/ scatter lasers and my Warp hunter.
If I had the cash for Hornets I would deff buy 3.

| You are required to take at least one unit of Corsairs. What do you want them to do? Want a backfield shoot and scoot objective holding unit? 10 with jetpacks and EML's. Keeping it cheap? 5 in a venom with a shuriken cannon, scatter laser on the venom. 5 In a Falcon can give you a good ranged punch with the pulse laser.
From there I would suggest looking at Corsair jetbikes. Scoring unit, 3+ armor, access to suriken cannons, and outflanking. Warp Hunters, Hornets, Nightwings; all awesome.

| I was thinking something along the lines of...3-man bike squads for troops...hide em behind walls and such, just taking pop shots, until the last turn turbo boost for objectives......A Corsair unit..I dunno, was pondering throwing em behind an Aegis defense line...dunno how that will work.... Maybe a deceptively mobile gun line? Maybe no jump packs for a transport fire support? (I dunno if its worth the points).. After that, warp hunters and hornets seem good!
How troop-heavy should my list be?

| The Corsair list requires you to take one unit of Corsairs (Pg 99). Corsairs suffer from having fragile troops. Given the objective-based game that is 6th edition, it is important to go troop-heavy with Corsairs. They don't have a transport with a capacity over 6 and you don't want to have them waltzing around on foot(they are after all Guardians more or less). When I play Corsairs I take 5-6 troop choices with every other unit in the army taken to draw fire from the fragile troops while dishing out as much damage as possible. Warp Hunters scare the Bujeezus out of people, Hornets are awesome, Nightwings are good if you are into flyers. I am not sold on Wasps at all. They take up a Troop slot, aren't a scoring unit, and are the exact same cost as a Hornet with identical heavy weapons while having less mobility and lower armor. The models are fantastic and I love them in a CWE list as a Fast unit. In the Corsair list they simply don't do it for me. | |

| Okay, start of my allied detachment in theory...
125 Corsair Prince- Melta bomb, Jet pack
175 Corsair Squad10x- 2x Missile Launcher, 2x Fusion gun
Hornet x3 (dunno how to equip these guys)
Warp Hunter- Holo-field
Thoughts?
Also..should I go lasblasters or shuriken catapults?

| I want to grab some as allies because they mix good with regular dark eldar I think.
The corsair prince is good with his nightfight missile or big blast missile. Grab one unit of jump infantery heavy weapon or just stick them behind and aegis defensline or in a bastion. Grab some cheap bikes for reserved scooring. Use the elite choise for something eldarly (rangers for fluff perhaps? or warp spiders) then take your choise of fast attack and heavy support.
My problem is that I already have a pretty decent dark eldar list. All I need to do is to paint it up. It seems odd to start bying corsairs. :-/
Edit: Also, the dark eldar really would like to have more "ravagers". Corsairs can add more ranged mech anti tank instead of just the blasterborn/ravager.
Please dont double post. If you need to add infomation, just use the edit button on the top right -Your Friendly Neighborhood Mod SR-

| I think Corsairs as allies will be good. The one thing I dont have in my Dark Eldar army is blast templates. So I'll be running a prince, EML Corsairs, A nightspinner and a warp hunter | |

| Corsairs are cool. That is one good reason to take them.
They also have a very good troop selection, better transports and the prince is rather cool. There are not so many things that the corsairs have that the regular eldars also have, but I'll consider it a worthwhile army to collect by far.
Start with the HQ and troops. :-)
