Wych Cult of Red Death

Time to embark on a new Dark Eldar project for me! The Wych Cult of Red Death.

Considering that I've done Kabal Forces and Coven Forces I figured it was time to make Cult force.

A while back I painted these 2 Razorwing Fighters in a red scheme that I was experimenting with. This will be the color scheme for The Cult of Red Death.



This will be the Sigil.





First off in this new Cult Force are a unit of Cyberpunk Wyches. I used spare reaver heads in this simple modification that adds a lot of unique character (and creepiness) to the wyches. I was inspired by fond recollections of Molly Milions when I was converting these lovely shaved headed ladies.

I see this becoming on of the PLOGs of Legend.

Very cool models and highly dynamic to boot! The girl in the sixth picture has a few mold lines left, especially on both arms, but they're a very cool lot nonetheless!

Gorgeous. These guys look absolutely classic. So cool to see the Reaver head with shades being used so well.

For my Wych Cult of Red Death I wanted to use Lelith Hesperax… but being me there is no way I could use the standard model. I had to make her creepy and wicked....

I wanted the new Hesperax to look like an insane augmented 4-armed Shiva Techno Gladiator. Basically if you are within 12' of her your dead!

Most of the pieces I used were from the base Hesperax finecast kit (I LOVE finecast for conversions like this) with the addition of a Talos Hook arm, some scourge impaler spears and a Reaver helmet. I posed her on Scibor ruins base to match my other DE.

Man she is wicked…. Hands down one of my favorite conversions ever.

I wonder how she is able to wield that spear with only one hand, but DAYUM she looks amazing!

Wow, that looks amazing! She looks really, really deadly! I'll agree with you, Finecast is actually really good if you wish to convert those models. I'm not sure if I personally like the hook, would've gone for another Wych arm, personally. But that's just me, with my own standards of depravity! Great job, can't wait to see her painted up.

I've been wanting to do a Beastmaster unit for quite some time and now that I'm making my Cult of Red Death…the time was right.

For the Beastmaster himself, I modified a standard Hellion figure so he looked like he was wearing a skull mask from a Clawed Fiend. I used a DE banner pole bit for clawed fiend skull and slapped it on a Scourge head.

The Khymerae and Clawed fiend are standard finecast figures posed on Scibor bases The detailing in the musculature and fur is amazing!

The Razorwings were my biggest gripe about the beastmaster figures. Birds? Really…That's it? Well I wanted something more alien, a kin to the creatures from Pitch Black. I smashed up a bunch of Tyranid bits and hope they don't look too Tyranid and more like general flying alien creatures.

I can't wait to paint these guys!

Wow, the razorwings look superb and really a lot like the pitch black animals, albeit smaller for obvious reasons. If you don't mind I'd like to steal the idea for my own razorwing conversion, there's no way I'm paying 13 odd EUR for 4 flimsy birds. As far as I can see you used parts of scything talons and either modified gaunts and heads or ripper swarms, right? If that's not too much trouble and you can remember everything could you briefly list what you used?

As always some splendid conversions. I consider myself a relatively good painter and your work never ceases to inspire me and make me jealous at the same time.

Damn it! You beat me to the Beastmaster conversion for the Clawed Fiend. Great minds think alike?

The razorwings were made with Carnifex tails, ripper bodies, and genestealer heads chopped and modified with scything talons for the bone crest.

@ ESE, too funny. Our armies are like parallels of each other. heh.

Wow, I absolutely love the Razorwing conversions - those flying fiends from Pitch Black are definitely much more frightening than, well, angry birds. The facemask of the Beastmaster is also great - simple, yet very elegant! Your miniatures are definitely a cut above all other (and no less beautiful) works of this forum.

I have finally finished 9 Reavers for my Dark Eldar Wych Cult of Red Death.

I airbrushed and handpainted the Figures, Bases and Bikes and OSL Exhausts all separately then put them together in the last step. I replicated the same Paint Scheme I use on my Razorwing Fighters Seen

Overall I'm very pleased with how they came out and I can't wait to field them in my next game!

That agoniser looks so cool on one of them too... I have to replace one of the reaver arms with a weapon now.

Thanks everyone I'm super excited about how this Force is turing out and I I'm more than half way done painting the beast master unit and Lelith. Hopefully I'll have them done by next week
