| So i have been considering various builds but a friend has now offered to sell me his unpainted LH & a ton of Wyches cheaply if i want them, so wanted to ask if they have any chance of working in the theme/playstyle i plan to use before i decide if to focus my army around a Kabal/Coven alliance or Cult/Coven alliance.
4 or 5 squads of Wyches in Venoms plus possibly a big unit coming out of a WWP the rest of the army will be a squad of Wracks in a Venom plus some Grots, 2 units of Reavers, Razorwing, 2 Pain Engines and then some fun extra stuff like Harlequins in bigger games.
So yeah long story short will that be workable for claiming objectives, as my idea is that some of the Wyches will be for taking down tanks and some others will be for claiming late game objectives or killing the leftovers on objectives after the Venoms/Reavers have taken down some of the enemies numbers holding their objectives.
Or am i talking complete rubbish as a new to DE and returning gamer after many years gap?

| I have four venoms. I plan to play them as either 5 haywire wyches, or an archon and 4 blood brides. May add another two next payday. I think the webway is a mistake, it just doesnt work in my opinion. 9 venoms with wyches/brides is about 1200pts | |

| I usually run 2 venoms with wyches, the rest are raiders/venoms with kabalites. It works for me at least. I think personally that the kabalites are better suited to venom spam than wyches, in the end, exploding transports are my worst enemy tbh. | |

| Thanks for the advice guys, i will probably go with Kabalites in Venoms, seems like a safer bet, can always add some Wyches at a later date as the imagery of them as a purely suicide unit does not really appeal to me.

| Changed my mind again , decided screw it i prefer the Wych models and fluff, so will try and make it work even if it is a harder task. | |

| Wyches are ok - you don't have to use them as suicide squads, but you'll probably want a mix of warriors/wyches or wracks/wyches for balance. Warriors can give you a nice blaster, and wracks are tough, can give you a LG & are reasonable in an assault.
Haven't tried out the old WWP in this edition (or even the last edition), but it has been nerfed somewhat. You can't assault out of it, and of course not all units can use it. I whistfully recall those days when raider-fulls of deadly wyches & incubi would burst out of the portal on turn 3 and assault all nearby enemy units, as my opponent looked on in horror. Now, reavers are ok coming out of the portal, and grotesques aren't bad, but it's not ever going to put your opponent in much trouble. The portal is cheaper than it used to be, but you have to buy a more expensive character to carry it. I stopped using it the moment the current codex was released.
One of the biggest problems with your list is that you don't have any anti-tank capability for early on in a game - everything is either in reserve or needs a turn or two to get closer. Fine if you only face all-infantry armies, but that would be unusual.

| Thanks, i think im moving towards a mix of Wyches & Wracks in the Venoms with the unit of 6 or 9 Reavers with Blasters plus possibly a Razorwing offering the additional tank hunting duties prior to stuff like more Reavers & the 2 Pain Engines arrive from the WWP.

You still lack anything to punch through armour turn 1 (Razorwing's not going to arrive until turn 2 at the earliest), so bear that in mind when deploying. Guess you'll need to be aggressive most of the time and get that portal in nice and close to your opponent's lines. Don't forget to bring at least 1 haemonculus to make the wracks troops. Urien would be good with the grotesques if you can spare the points. Reavers can really cause a lot of disruption and two units are really great for that. If you are relying on them for anti-tank, I would be tempted to give one of the units heat lances for extra-reliable tankbusting.

| He could stick Urien, 4 grots, and a succubus in a raider and ram them down the enemies throat. This gives them two options, deal with them, or get wrecked... Most people choose to deal with them, and they have enough toughness to surivive long enough, epecially with Urien taking a few wounds and then LOS to some grots. Its not an ideal method of buying time, but it could work. | |
