| Hi there If I put two true born with Splinter Cannons in a Venom is that legal? as the codex says up to 2 can have splinter cannons. Can the two true born on board fire 6 shots each after moving 12'' just like the Venom they are in can? Thanks | |

| You can put trueborn with SC in venom Yes.
However the trueborns can only fire snapshots when moved that distance...

| Check page 88 of the dark eldar codex for the minimum squad size of trueborn. Check the "fire points" section on page 78 of the rule book for the rules concerning passengers firing from transports. Hope that helps. | |

However the trueborns can only fire snapshots when moved that distance... Plus the trueborn could only fire 4 shots each rather than 6 since they "moved".

| You could stay still and fire off 4 heavy SCs though, but it sounds better in theory than it is in practice. A Deldar army is never going to be short of splinter shots. | |

| So I guess 4 true born with blasters in a Venom is a better option as they are an assault weapon, oh but they'll still only be firing snap shots at 12'' move hey? | |

That's not possible, Rulebook FAQ page 3: Q:Can I choose to make a Snap Shot rather than a normal shot? (p13) A: No.

That's not possible, Rulebook FAQ page 3:
Q:Can I choose to make a Snap Shot rather than a normal shot? (p13) A: No. That's irrelevant, if you move and fire a heavy weapon you have to snapshot. He isn't choosing to snapshot, he is choosing to fire the splinter cannon at heavy 6 rather than assault 4 after moving. So what shadow said was correct.

| Shadow is talking about choosing between the heavy profile (snap shots) and the assault profile (normal shots), as you said. You are saying, that choosing the profile is important and the kind of shooting (snap or normal) is irrevelant. In my opinion the decision between heavy and assault is a decision between snap shots and normal shots, which is forbidden. I'm remembering a lot of GKs complaining about that FAQ for that reason. Just my two cents, but I don't think that this rule question will be ever relevant on the battlefield.

| I couldn't find the FAQ you mentioned. Unless you meant this:
Q:Can I choose to make a Snap Shot rather than a normal shot? (p13) A: No.
By choosing the profile you are not choosing to snap shot. You are choosing the weapon profile. The fact that you are moving and firing a heavy weapon is forcing you to snap shot, there is no choice to snap shot involved.
If you star arguing things like that, it get's silly really fast: choosing to shoot at a flying monstrous creature is choosing to snapshot rather than shooting something else with a normal shot, so you can't target the flying MC and have to shoot the other unit.
Though you are right it makes no sense arguing over something that is not worth doing (i.e assault 4 at BS4 > heavy 6 at BS1).
