| So, i have a nid player in my gaming group. I have played nids once before, swarm style. I decimated this style of play. However, he fielded a very shooty army, with the "drop pods" or whatever theyre called for nids and a FMC. This FMC was also a pysker. To be fair i had horrible dice role the entire game. However, he drop podded (not a word) the shooty nids behind my vehicles, and outflanked with the MC that spawns more irritating nids, and swooped around destroying everything else i had, TO include my jetfighter before it had a chance to do anything. I am so lost on how to deal with this. i had tried to combat the reserves antics he had by splitting my army up all over the board, HORRIBLE idea. I tried to make him lose target priority but it totally backfired. Someone with experience playing pysker nids PLEASE help. Oh, he also had a zoanthrope drop pod in and do some ridiculousness where if i failed a leadership test on 3D6 i lost the difference in models.
i apologize for the scatter brained description here.

| Those were Mycetic Spores.
Sounds like he was paying for a Flyrant with Hive Commander, a tervigon, probably devilgaunts, and the Doom.
So, some really, really expensive models. And kinda fragile ones.
In general:
1. Hit the flyrant with Poison, ground him, apply more poison. That one model is likely to be a huge proportion of his army.
2. The Doom's big weakness is that it gets instant death'd by strength 8.
3. There's a thread on here entitled "Dealing With Deepstrikers." It contains all of the good advice ever.

| And kill the Tervygon as fast as possible to prevent it from spawning more nids than you can kill. Once again, poison is the key here. | |

| Massed splinter fire is the way to bring them down, space your units so his drop pods cannot get right behind your lines. You take eldar allies with runes of warding, would completely nullify his zoanthropes. Shoot the doom with lances instant death | |

| All good advice so far. On his end it sounds like his army is adapted to stand a chance against us, so good on him since DE are anethema to nids.
Thing is almost his whole army is range 18" -> 12" with NS so he must DS to get into range alive. Dont spread your forces but do use your models to deny LZs for his pods. Dont waste venom shots on the flyrant just throw warrior shots and units which went to ground at it. If a grounding happens then pounce on it with venoms if not rinse repeat while you waste the rest of his forces.
Liquifiers rock against nid fodder units btw and huskblades/flesh gauntlets against their MCs. If you have some of these hanging out to retaliate its gonna make him think twice about getting up close with you.
I commonly see 2 flyrants even at 1k which can be pretty brutal but almost necessary for them now against most other armies (a mistake against us I believe). I can say that their regular MCs arent half as nasty as the massive swarms of gants, hive guard excepted. The flyrants wreck opposing flyers though so I wouldnt run flyers against nids.
If he does get into your lines dont be afraid to load up and boost 30" away to regroup if the altenative is getting wiped in CQC.
Anyway ya, facing us is a losing proposition for nids most of the time.

| Thanks for the quick feedback guys. And thank you for not hating on my grammatical catastrophe. Writing on this dang iPhone sucks. and in reply to a comment made about the models he is feilding being expensive and fragile: this stuff was like 3+ armor with an invul. And they all had life leech. Would the crucible of malediction be worth bringing in this scenario? If I brought a Farseer with runes of warding and crucible, wouldn't that make them have to pass there psychic tests on 3d6 and kill them instantly? Or is that combo not work like that. I apologize I don't have any of my books right now. Game is tonight at 2000 points so I'm trying to prepare mentally. | |

AFAIK, the only invulnerable saves they have in their entire army are on Zoanthropes and Doom of Malan'tai.

| A crucible forces a ld test not a psychic test unfortunately, but if you have runes of warding on the table he probably won't risk using his powers even with ld 10 on three dice it's very hard to pass tests. At 2000 pts two archons with husk blades would be good, as many venoms as you can field. Also as many ravager as you have would be good. At 2000pts you can field 6 ravagers arm 3 of them with dissies they will be devastating, use the dark lance ones to instant kill the doom and any hive guard he brings. Vect is also good against monstrous creatures and will help you steal the initiative on a 4 | |

| I'd suggest bringing the farseer but leaving the crucible at home. | |
