Hello Dark city.

As said in my welcome thread found here: Edit: Can't post links for 7 days upon joining

Having been away for a while, and only formerly a Marine player, forgive me as I slowly gain confidence in the background of my new force. I have clicked the Name generator a few times, and am currently working with Coven of Bladed caress, whether this is more suited to a Cult, or I should be designing a Kabal.. Well.. I'm not sure.

I am moving forward with decisions, and can only trust the community here will keep me from the overtly "wait what?" before tossing me into a liquifier vat, or chaining me down in the lowest level of the low city.

Here is what I have so far:

I know I have a long road ahead, and this is to keep me motivated, gain feedback, and constructive comments from the community. as well as a way for me to hopefully brag, as i transform what's in my head to the table.

Day one has come to a close, and I just wanted to document my progress thus far. I took pic's and saved them to the computer, more for my records that to dazzle you with my assembly.

Succubus - attached, and based minus left arm. I shall see how this finecast material works with a simple arm swap.

20 Warriors - torso's, legs, heads attached, and based.

10 wyches - Torso's and legs attached, and based.

Talos - I'll call it sub assemblies

Paint scheme - I think i have settled on a weathered / aged bone look to the weaponry. At least the rifle stocks / housings. Not sure about the blades, but probably a matching look rather than a shiny metal. The idea is carved, or sculpted bone with ceramic blades.

A quick test paint on a random rifle confirmed my like of this concept; however it also lead the the following change. Initially i went with an orange weapon effect glow, but will be changing it as I liked the look so much I wanted it to have more presence in the army.

Hence I am Going to paint a test figure in my new direction scheme tested on white foam board:

Ruddy Orange with Yellow-green ( Chartreuse ) accents, and Violet eyes / weapon effects. Various vials, and poisons are slated to be purples, and vibrant blue.

Sounds like a cool idea with bone weaponry, it would be even cooler if the blades were bones as well imo. I'm curious on how your figure will look!

The picture links don't work on your first post

Yes I know. Unfortunetly new members are prevented from attaching links for 7 days from registration. In order to attach an image I need to post it as a link, and it doesn't show. When I preview the post in edit, the image shows just fine.

I'll bet once my seven day restriction lifts the images will pop up.

Since I can't post pictures of my progress I'll keep at the boring, yet required stages. Today I will tackle mold lines, and other clean up requirements

You posted the images wrong. That's why they aren't showing (like I said in chat my first post was a battle report and I could post images even though I couldn't post links).

You need to post the address of the image between the [img] tags. Currently you are just posting the name of the image.

When I try and edit my post to input my imageshack url upload of those images, the pictures show perfectly fine ( although a tad small ) while I look at them after clicking preview. However when I try and click submit to update the thread I get the following message :

New members are not allowed to post external links or emails for 7 days. Please contact the forum administrator for more information.

I have even tried to do this in my signature to place a link to this thread, and get the same results. All I can do is wait out my seven days, and 'magically' the images will upload.

I will still proceed with the army, taking pictures as I go, and back fill those as well.

I do thank you though, for trying to help.

Mushkilla thank you for your assistance in getting the images sorted. While I still can't link, at least I can share pictures.

As the primer is drying on my first batch of 10 warriors I wanted to share a little of my inspiration, and how it grabbed me to begin this new army. While I'm sure many of you are well familiar with Dark Eldar, and have beautiful armies already.. But, you never know.

I just joined... And I'm starting an army from scratch.. Maybe sometime down the road, another new slave will join our ranks with the ever present "How do I paint Dark Eldar" question.

I know I did. In fact in the days before I registered, but after I took the 40k army poll and found my top result was this army, and before I found this site.. There was Youtube.

Girlpainting, AwesomePaintJobs, and WarbossTae are but a few I looked at before moving onto the Batt Reps to see even more painted goodness.. All the while searching for that color choice to grab me.

After registering here it continued. I would look over threads of others work, seeing what I liked, and what I saw in repeating themes. In fact I grumbled when I saw Evil Space Elves army.. as upon my purchase I bought a set of purple and teal dice to go with.

I knew I needed to keep looking, but the reality was I started thinking of an established Kabal to simplify my task, and so I could use the existing decal transfers.

The only color scheme I kept seeing was the codex cover. That metallic blue, and maroon.. I kept looking at it, and even placed my newly bought dice on the Codex to see how the colors worked. Could I 'justify' rolling those dice, with a variation on that look. Then without thinking as I reached for caffeine to clear the cobwebs and continue my quest for the coxed / dice pairing... It was sitting right in front of me...



Inspiration is a funny thing. I searched for a few days on web pages, books, youtube, and more. Looking high an low for a color palette that just said.. 'you an me, let's do this' and now there it was.

Today I went to my local store, to grab a few fresh pots, and a new fine detail brush, and found that extra lil something to confirm my colors will pair well, and the army succeed on the table.



Now I just have to pull off painting it.
