| Hey there,
I have a 1k game against Grey Knights coming up and would like to know your opinion on it. We are both writing the most evil army lists we can think of, so I'm sure he's going to field three Psyfle-Dreads and some purifiers for that I6 goodness. Another thing I am fairly sure of, is that he'll play pure Grey Knights, as he doesn't like henchmen.
Anyway, my list:
- Haemonculus with Liquifier and Venom Blade (rides with the Wyches)
- 8 Wyches with Haywire grenades, Hekatrix with Blast Pistol and Agonizer -> Raider with Flickerfield and Enhanced Aether Sails - 3 Wracks -> Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons - 3 Wracks -> Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
- 6 Jetbikes with 2 Heat Lances
- Ravager with Flickerfield and Night Shield - Ravager with Flickerfield and Night Shield - Ravager with Flickerfield and Night Shield
=> 997 points
What do you think? | |

| I'm sorry to say I'm quite convinced that Dark Eldar don't stand a single chance against 3+ GK-dreads at 1000pts. I think a Ravager has less than 20% to make a dread not fire back.
Wyches with grenades in aethersailing raiders can tie the dreads up and heat-lances might be able to blow them up. I would try to fit in an extra unit of Wyches if possible.

| Yes, I agree with you, Speedfreek. But actually we played the game just now per vassal as both of us had time - and he brought 9 models. Nine freaking models. Draigo in 5 Paladins, one lone Paladin, one Psyfledread and a Stormraven. ... I played the above list and thought "Jeez, I'm going to win so hard!", but then we rolled Annihilation and Pitched Battle. First turn I killed his Stormraven, Bikes wiffed ad killing the Dread. Everything afterwards was just me failing to kill his Paladins. Draigo is IMMORTAL, I tell you. In the end, after 7 turns, he won with 6 Killpoints against 3. He only had 5, how was I supposed to win that. Every other mission and I would have won. | |

| Psyrifleman dreads are a big pain for DE (well almost everyone) not because of the 48" str silly shots but because of fortitude. Fortitude is THE most annoying overpowered power in the GK codex as it forces you to expend far more shooting to ensure it can't shoot next turn (you have to wreck it or blow both guns off) than you'd like (and if you roll like me you don't do a damn thing to it). Purifiers ensure that you don't want to go close to them, flame power and fearless plus all power weapons make wyches suffer.
Tactically I'd go for no wyches (the chances of you getting close enough to assaualt a dread are minimal) and instead maximise anti-tank and shooting bar from the rifledreads his shooting has less range than you.
It is important that you try to get your shots in first this will be a tough fight so you'll need to use every trick in the arsenal use terrain (make sure you roll to place it/ choose your deployment side carefully) to block his fire lanes, oblique angles to try to keep only the unit you are firing at capable of firing back. Don't engage Purifiers in hand to hand shoot them to death. Best of luck.

| Thanks, Strange Dude, I'll try to use your advise for the next fight, when we play with real models. He'll play a more "normal" list, then. Grey Knights are a tough little bunch for DE, that's for sure. | |

No worries, I've played against GK 6 times in the last 9 games so I'm kinda getting used to them (though no-one locally runs psyfleman dreads) and to be fair they are expensive thus usually small in number and apart from the aforementioned dreads have a much shorter range than us (especially if like me you put night shields on every vehicle). I have shot them to bits everytime wouldn't like to deal with them in assault mind (to many forceweapons, buff powers etc).

| Hmm interesting, I always love when the Supreme Grand Master of the Chapter decides to go out for a cruise with a couple of his top boyz when he hears news of a few DE being spotted knocking over a couple apple carts.
I agree in this situation best to knock out his ride and make them walk.
I had a few idea's but I think this is annoying enough.
HQ Haemonculus w/Liquifier gun
ELITE TB (3) - x2 DL, Venom w/ 2SC (this unit has its own topic and oddly enough here it seems to work IMO) TB (3) - x2 DL, Venom w/ 2SC TB (3) - x2 DL, Venom w/ 2SC
TROOP WAR (5) - x1 DL WAR (5) - x1 DL
HVY RAV - x3 DL, FF RAV - x3 DL, FF RAV - x3 DL, FF
TOTAL 998
Set up the Trueborn (not in venoms) and Warriors in cover where available.
Basically you now have 17 Dark Lance Shots to hopefully quickly lay low both the Dread and the Stormraven. Keep the Venoms as far back and away from the Dread as possible until the Paladins show themselves. Once that happens use the Venoms to harass them with 36 poisoned shots until your DLs can lend a hand. If any of your units are at risk send a Venom to pick them up or to pick up the warriors to claim a late game objective.
The Haem can hang out with whomever but most likely either a TB unit or flying around in one of the Venoms staying safe choosing when best to fly in and lend his template to the mix (if necessary).

Illegal units I'm afraid you have to have 10 Kabalites before you can take a dark lance.

Illegal units I'm afraid you have to have 10 Kabalites before you can take a dark lance. Yeah I know better, good catch. So with that said...... HQ Haemonculus w/Hexrifle and Shattershard ELITE TB (3) - x2 DL, Venom w/ 2SC (this unit has its own topic and oddly enough here it seems to work IMO) TB (3) - x2 DL, Venom w/ 2SC TB (3) - x2 DL, Venom w/ 2SC TROOP WAR (5) - x1 Blaster WAR (5) - x1 Blaster HVY RAV - x3 DL, FF RAV - x3 DL, FF RAV - x3 DL, FF TOTAL 998 Ok so as The Strange Dude quickly pointed out those Warrior squads being only 5 guys can't sport a Lance which doesn't change the basic idea and the points saved help open up some other options namely with HQ. I thought a Hexrifle was a better fit than the Liquifier but didn't have the points, now I can add a Hexrifle and even a Shattershard. There are also the points to change up the HQ if you want, i.e. Archon or Succubus (but not enough to make them real sexy IMO) i.e. Archeon with Blaster and Venom Blade for example wouldn't necessarily be a bad chioce here. @ Kinnay I would be interested in knowing what upgrades your opponent took. Based on taking Draigo, 5 Paladins, one lone Paladin, one Psyfledread and a Stormraven, he should of only had about 55 points to spend on upgrades (so no FNP for his Paladin's)

| He had one MC Halberd, one MC Halberd with Psycannon, one Halberd with Psycannon, one Hammer and the Justicar with Halberd in the big unit. The lone Paladin had only a Halberd. The Stormraven had a Multimelta and a Lascannon; the Dread was in the Psyfle configuration.
Grey Knight vehivles are a pain in the behind to take out and Paladins aren't easy either, when Draigo's there to suck up those S8+ wounds...

| Thanks.
I agree Fortitude does add an additional level of annoyance but I think in a rematch my list would give it a good run for the money.
