1500 points vs. Grey Knights

I've mentioned a few times that my principle opponent is grey knights.    He has stumbled upon Guard allies.  Typically he takes a vendetta (sometimes 2) as well as a GK stormraven and sometimes a manticore as heavy support to augment his list.

He used to be knight heavy, now he tends to have 50/50 inquisitorial henchmen along with his knights. (he loves to stick deathcult assassins in that stormraven for deep penetration nastiness)

I've pulled together the following list to give a go the next time a face him:

Baron
Beastmasters - 5 kymerae and 2 razorwings

Haemonculus - WWP
Wracks (9) w. liquefier gun in a raider with retrofire jets

Kabalite warriors (5) w blaster
Venom

Kabalite warriors (5) w blaster
Venom

Kabalite warriors (5) w blaster
Venom

Trueborn w. 4X blasters
Venom

Voidraven - nightshields/flickerfield

Ravager

Talos - haywire, chainsnares


My plan is to deepstrike the wracks somewhere with some cover, but within 24" of his tank gunline.   Pop out and WWP with the haemonculus.   Then the Talos and the Trueborn come from reserve through the WWP  (I would deploy the venom from the trueborn empty on the table on turn 1)

May or may not come through wwp with baron and beasts too.   Just toying with that one.

Interested in your thoughts and comments.  In general I don't like the playability of the WWP for the points value, but I like the concept of this tactic.

Interesting tactic, but it may need a bit of tuning.

Ideally the WWP needs to be deployed turn 1, so that any reserves that appear turn 2 can benefit from it.

Unfortunately if you Deep Strike the raider, the earliest it can enter play is turn 2, and the Haemonculus can't disembark that turn to place the WWP (retrofire jets rule). So the haemonculus disembarks turn 3 and places the portal for any remaining reserves to use on turn 4. Of course your other reserves may have come on themselves in the mean time.

If your opponent is using a lot of henchmen there is a good chance he is using Inquisitor Coteaz as a HQ choice to make the henchmen troop choices. Coteaz has a special rule ("I've been expecting you" I think it's called) which allows him and his unit to get a free set of shooting against any enemy unit which deploys within 12" of him. If Coteaz can get close to the WWP any units deploying out of it might have bit of a bad day.

I don't mean to be overly negative but it's worth being aware of the possible downsides of the strategy.

I was pretty sure that you can disembark after retrofire jets.  But that said, even if that's the case, I can only deploy the WWP on turn two if I deep strike, so it is turn 3 before the Talos enters.

Good point on Coteaz.  Yes he uses him almost all the time as his HQ choice.

Hmmmmm...    lots to consider.   Basically what i'm struggling with is getting my talos close enough to rip into him and cause oodles of damage  

Any thoughts on that?

Perhaps you can get your opponent to come to your Talos?

By that I mean keep the Talos near to an objective or two. If your opponent wants to claim the objective then you can splat his troops with the Talos when he gets close.

And if the threat of a Talos keeps him away from an objective that's good as well
