| My Archon has banned Mandrakes (I only had to twist his arm a little)
Im going to do some full on DE scout types.
Ive chosen the figures, I now want some guns.
The Eldar scouts use this thing called the long las, What would be the DE equivalent? (or would they nick some off the sissy CWEs?)
And how would I model it?

| I'm not quite clear what you're trying to model. Are you modelling some DE Scouts counts-as Mandrakes? Or some DE Scouts counts-as Eldar Scout allies?
If the latter, then no harm in giving them the same guns as the Eldar. If counting as Mandrakes, the Baleblast would be odd as a weapon - do you have a fluff explanation why they can't fire it until they get a pain token?
And what figures are you using?

| Im using scouts as scout troops instead of Mandrakes.
Think of them as the DE equivalent of ECW scouts (there must be some, musnt there?)
I was thinking of using ECW Scout figures.

| So you're using Ranger models as Rangers but with Mandrakes rules? | |

| If you're going to use the Scout models, and count them as Scouts, then I'd just leave them with the guns they have. Maybe add a few spikes if you want them to look Dark Eldar-y. | |

| Okay so your creating a new DE unit that are scouts, equivalent to eldar rangers (closest thing)
The only sniper rifle we have access to is a hex rifle, it is conceivable that haemes would kit out a team of DE snipers with them, although you would have to make their points cost reflect how much the hex rifle would cost.

| That's great, just what I want.
Even if just one scout has one...they are pretty pricey bits of kit.
What do they look like? Theres no pic in the codex

| the hex rilffle is too overpowered, it is a sniper type weapon, but too powerful, a heamonculus with a hexriffle is at the lvl of a vindicare assassin, wracks have access to it as well, but it's an exception. I really wouldn't allow a full unit with it. just imagine it, the whole unit could easily kill any big tyranid in one shot...that's just wtf.
I would just use Rangers as rangers, using the craftworld entry. There are DE corsairs btw, those guys aren't regular DE, they don't live Commorragh for starters. They live either in our reality of in another webway city/realm not havign anything to do with Commoragh. There are independant realms, where you have all type of eldar living, they rulers of such realms aren't archon obviously. Dark eldar are merely allowed to dock there, all eldar would are allowed to dock there in fact. Rangers could visit Commorragh in theory, rangers are a lot weirder than you may think, they spend their time in the weirdest places. Read Path of the Renegade to know more about it, a lot of dark eldar action in an eldar trilogy.
In fluff, Kabalite warriors are used as scouts, mandrakes don't fulfil that role at all. Mandrakes do mostly 2 things within Commoragh: either they hang around within the city, killing at will, just doign their nasty business or either they act as bodyguards for an archon. They are just mercenaries ,their pay makes their loyalty.
As far as armor, the camo adapts to the enviroment the rangers are in, it has no color in theory, as for the armor, it may just be black, I'm trying to explain why ranger may have the some colors as a Kabal. Rangers either either still very loyal to their old craftworld and they keep the colors of their craftworld on their armor, or either they wear pretty much any armor color they wish.

| A mix between kabalite warriors and eldar rangers sounds like a nice idea, if you want them to look more Dark Eldar-y you could always give them hexrifles but follow the Rangers Rifle rules? | |

| Howdy,
let me not come across as intolerant Tengu, but I have read this thread several times, and I still do not have a clear idea as to what you are asking, and from the replies, it appears no one else does really either.
Please use proper grammar and explain in more detail what it is you want or are trying to accomplish. I think you will get better responses if you more clearly explain what your goal is.
That being said, if you are looking to make rangers more dark eldar-ish or use Rangers in your army, then a simple conversion would be to alter the barrel of the sniper rifle so it look more like a De splinter weapon, or if you are not using the splinter cannons, then use replace the sniper rifle with a splinter cannon.
If you are trying to create a unit all your own, then you can create what ever suits you.
A couple of options is if you have any scourges, you could use a haywire rifle or heatlance as a mock up for a sniper weapon, both are long barreled and suitably malicious.
Also, if you happen to have any of the combat blades from the Kabalite warriors, adding them to any weapon will certainly help to convey a DE feel to your model.
Not sure if any of this is what you are looking for...
