| I was flicking through the new codex when I noticed that warp spiders could possibly move up to 36" in one turn. They get their 6+2D6 warp jump then a D6 (rerollable) run move, after which they can shoot, and finally a 2D6 jet pack move! The average move from this is 24" assuming 4" for their run move due to fleet. This makes these guys seriously fast or have I missed something? | |

| They can either do a warp jump or use their jetpacks. They can't use both. So if you warp jump you don't get to do your 2d6 jetpack move in the assault phase. Hope that helps. | |

| The rules for the warp jump generator say 'In the Movement phase a model with a warp jump generator can choose to either move as jet pack infantry or make a warp jump' so I would have thought that means that they can still move in the assault phase and the reason you can choose which movement type is so you can decide whether or not the extra speed is worth risking the loss of a warp spider. I could be wrong but that's how it seems to me. | |

| Hehe glad to be of service I'd love to get some warp spiders, I love the fluff and their rules are great but the models themselves really put me off. | |

| Or even the rear. Deepstriking in behind vehicles shouldn't be too hard, with battle focus to correct their landing if they scatter, and then jumping away with their jetpack move. | |

| Never liked warp spiders before, but this codex has got me seriously considering them. | |

| From what I've heard (haven't got my hands on the codex yet, sad face) they do seem really nice - however, I really don't like their models, and especially not the exarch. Thinking a little about converting something into spiders, not sure what though... | |

| I have considered Warp Spiders extensively and am trying a squad out with an Autarch with a Banshee Mask this weekend. I agree with the point of their models not being as fancy/cool as the rest of the range. With the distance that they can move I'll be risking losing the squad in the hopes of letting them pop up in my foe's face. | |

| I'm planning on using allies to add some modelling/fluff potential for my coven-centric force and am particularly excited about the spiders. Figured their rules work perfectly for some captured mandrakes that have come under the knives of the haemonculi! Give them some scourge wings and a surgically implanted gun (or maybe just some surgical enhancements that beef up their balefire) and they're good to go.
Slipping into the shadows only to appear across the battlefield is so much closer to how I'd imagine a mandrake to fight.

Maybe you could alter Scourge somewhat? Make a corsair looking Warp Spider. Also, keep in mind that 36" might be the max they could move in one turn, but you're going to lose a guy. =P So, lets say the max is 35", just so we keep at full capacity!

Consider putting him on a bike with lance/fusion (im sure you probably already did) although I think spiders may be better off with a jb farseer honestly. 7 spiders with a ML 3 psyker that packs a singing spear is very very good and their speeds match perfectly.

| Someone did the math and apparently 4 warp spiders provide more strength 7 hits on flyers than a warwalker with flack missiles for 5 fewer points.... An extremely flexible and mobile unit. | |

I have considered that and I'll try it out in another game, perhaps. I'm having a couple of games with completely differents lists just to get a feel for some fo the units and wargear.

| I tried out a unit of 6 spider allies yesterday with my Dark Eldar.
They worked incredibly well. They were able to support my lines everywhere that they were needed. I could hit isolated/weakened units no prob. the best part is when they surrounded and wrecked a marine rhino near the table edge (hence why I was able to surround it) and the marines could not disembark because the spiders were too close. So the marines all died.
Over the course of the game the spiders were able to kill the rhino+squad. mop up what was left of another marine unit and then threaten a marine unit holding an objective back field late game. they are amazing at hit and run tactics.
All I can say is that spiders were my fav unit before. and now they are my double fav unit.
they synergize very well with how I play my dark elder.

| They look really awesome! What are the best load-outs to have? Do people take the exarch and what do they kit him with? | |

| yeah ive nearly always used spider's when i decide to run my eldar. just cause i like the aspect
now with extra movement and bringing that medium S6-7 to the table (something DE Lack) makes them even more viable as allies.
