Fellow Archons:

A tournament approaches and I seek your sage counsel. I have written two lists and I want opinions on (1) which to take and (2) how to improve them. There are the types of armies I expect to see at the tournament.

1. Thunderfire Cannon / Autocannon Dread / Flyer Spam of Doom
2. Space Wolf Drop Pod Army, possibly with Longfangs
3. Foot Tau, possibly augmented with Foot Eldar
4. Tau Horde (100+ infantry models @ 1250)
5. Necrons, non-flyer spam....possibly fluffy (approved Forge World stuff)
6. Blood Angel Assault Marine Spam
7. Eldar with Dark Angels
8. Chaos Space Marines (?)
9. Slaaneshi Chaos Marines
10 Chaos Space Marines with Chaos Daemons w/ Mauler Fiend/Daemon Prince Spam
11. Chaos Space Marines centered on Sorcerer and Nurgle-blessed bikers/obliterators
12. Grey Knights
13 Balanced Blood Angels
14. ...and more...

Obviously, this isn't Adepticon but I playing to win. These are the lists I have

List 1

Primary Detachment
Succubus with Agonizer & Haywire Grenades
Haemonculus with LFG

3 Trueborn with 2 Dark Lances in Venom with Dual Splinter Cannons & Night Shields

5 Warriors with Blaster in Venom with Dual Splinter Cannons & Night Shields
5 Warriors with Blaster in Venom with Dual Splinter Cannons & Night Shields
10 Warriors with Blaster in Raider with Splinter Racks & Night Shields
10 Warriors with Blaster in Raider with Splinter Racks & Night Shields
7 Wyches with HWG led by Hekatrix with Agonizer & PGL in Raider with Night Shields

6 Reaver Jetbikes with 2 Heat Lances

x2 Ravagers with Night Shields
Razorwing Jetfighter with Flicker Fields

Allied Detachment
Farseer
5 Rangers

List 2

Primary Detachment
Succubus with Agonizer
x2 Haemonculi

5 Incubi in Raider with Night Shields

5 Warriors with Blaster in Venom with Dual Splinter Cannons & Night Shields
5 Warriors with Blaster in Venom with Dual Splinter Cannons & Night Shields
5 Warriors with Blaster in Venom with Dual Splinter Cannons & Night Shields
10 Warriors with Blaster in Raider with Splinter Racks & Night Shields
7 Wyches with HWG led by Hekatrix with Agonizer & PGL in Raider with Night Shields

6 Reaver Jetbikes with 2 Heat Lances

x2 Ravagers with Night Shields
Razorwing Jetfighter with Flicker Fields

Allied Detachment
Farseer
5 Rangers

Summary
The Eldar detachment is for static objective holding and twin-linking Ravagers and/or Venoms. Cross fingers for Doom. Of all the opposing forces (except 1), I am most nervous about the Tau...specifically the infantry horde. Although an infantry horde is not a problem in terms of movement, it is a tough nut to crack when there are objectives to be had. List 2 is a response to that. Basically, I want to use the Haemonculi to increase my survivability via FNP and by charging the infantry line separately. By doing this, I can divide Tau overwatch.

Nice lists. I prefer list one as I think it's unwise to take Incubi without an Archon w/PGL.

What is the role of the Razorwing in your lists? If it's for AA then I'd swap it for a Crimson Hunter (Exarch upgrade if you can afford it). You could downgrade a Warrior Raider squad to a Venom squad to get the points if you want.

I understand the situational risks of running Incubi without assault grenades--it can be devastating. If push comes to shove, I will try to assault the Incubi as far away from the Haemonculus as possible. Should the Haemonculus survive, several enemy units will have to consolidate toward him and the Succubus would make an enemy counter attack much less tenable.

My Jetfighter is pretty multipurpose. Generally speaking, I use it to break apart larger formations/hordes. It has rarely let me down and tends to draw a lot of fire....which is good because it's more survivable than a Crimson Hunter. However, I do use it for AA and Anti-Armor as needed. I do not own a Crimson Hunter and IMO that the Exarch is too expensive for what it does.

the first list is superior. Just be careful about running reavers because they dont have nightshields. They will be targeted more.

As for the crimson hunter. Its a far better choice for an AA platform, and the exarch is by far worth the points (BS5 is godlike), but I think you made the right choice. A razorwing will do you well both with anti-horde and AA.

Despite my better judgement and the advice I received, I took the second list and did not play test it.

I was very impressed with the Incubi. The first game I played, they completely destroyed a Tactical squad. With their second pain token, they proceeded to charge a Night Spinner and ravaged it with their STR 5 AP 2 weapons. The 315 point deathstar (5 Incubi, Succubus, Haemoncus Raider) made its points back without breaking a sweat.

The second game, they assaulted a large scout squad in a forest and utterly crushed it before taking on a ten man tactical squad.

The last game, they failed in a game breaking way. They failed a 6" charge against a thirty man strong Fire Warrior gunline. I know you'll say that was ill advised but I actually managed to disable Tau overwatch by throwing the Haemonculus at it first. Through a bizarre target priority conundrum, the Succubus and a single Incubus managed to survive. The duo subsequently charged and ground their way through twenty Fire Warriors. The Tau line had been so compromised that Eldrad was forced to cast Death Mission on himself--to little avail.

Although the squad did not make it's points back, it was also responsible for three kill points. If it had not failed the initial charge, a squad of Wyches would have been able to eliminate a Hammerhead and Pathfinders. It is also likely that the squad would have moved on to kill several Dark Reapers and another squad of Fire Warriors because it would have been four men stronger. In other words, the problem had more to do with poor rolling at a critical point than anything else.

i personally love my incubi. and that was a cool choice to put them with a succubus and haemis to earn them a pain token....i ran my incubi with lelith in a battle against SPACE MARINES while my archon and his wytches attacked his Tac Squads. lelith was a great combo with them. effectively allowing me too target their leaders and still have a klaivex too strike dish out his pain with his Incubi boys. i had his leaders head by round three. So i like your list lol and it sounded like it worked nicely.
