| I was interested in what my brethren of the dark kin do mainly against armies with lots of barrage weapons?
They don't need LOS and have incredible ranges, so you're not save anywhere. And you don't get coversaves because you consider the blast to come from the center.
An army like DKoK can set up a lot of Barrage weapons.
What do you guys mainly do against an army like that?

| You do get cover saves if you are in area terrain, or are a vehicle with Jink.
I usually rush their artillery parking lot with wyches in venoms. Your venoms will have at least a 4+ cover save, and he will be forced to shoot them, or risk losing his whole parking lot to haywire.
Allied Eldar helps a lot here for Serpent Shield fire power (no cover), and perhaps a Mantle of the Laughing God Autarch with a fusion gun.
Perhaps use a beast pack to threaten his front line at the same time. He will be baited into hitting them since he'll get a good many wounds, but you can save them with invul saves and area terrain cover. And if he snipes a few birds, who cares? They're only 12 points. Better than losing the haywire. ;-)
You WILL take damage from the barrage weapons the first turn or two. Just make your opponent make the wrong choices, and threaten him fast. He'll be baited into shooting something since he'll lose too much if he doesn't.

| @autopilot "You do get cover saves if you are in area terrain, or are a vehicle with Jink."
With danger of derailing my own thread I've asked the question in the rules section. But the point I'm making is, you don't. But, like I said, let's discuss that in the rules section.
As for the tactics, I agree with you. Provided I can make use of jink and area terrain those are sound advices.

| Barrage weapons only ignore cover granted by intervening terrain. As a result jink saves, area terrain and night fight still grant you cover against barrage weapons. No wonder you have been having a rough time against IG. | |

Could you please tell me the page number, where I can find this rule?

| Pg34, Under the Barrage special rule.
"To determine whether a unit wounded by a Barrage weapon is allowed a cover save, ... , always assume the shot is coming from the centre of the blast marker,"
Therefore, even if the shot is coming from the center of the blast marker, you are still granted AREA terrain cover. You also get cover if a wall is between your model and the centre of the blast marker. The shot comes from the middle of the blast.
Now, if the weapon is Barrage and Ignores Cover, you naturally do not get any cover saves.

| Haywire wych venoms. Flat out T1 and assault T2
If you go first, he shouldnt ever get a shot off with his big guns, and if he goes first, he'll get one, and his chances of killing six venoms isnt great even with 9 basilisks.

| The mention of DKoK leads me to believe the OP might be facing a few more artillery emplacements than five wyches might otherwise be able to handle. Kriegers have artillery in the heavy support and elites section, and the newest version of the rules have their infantry squads recycling so they can bubble wrap the artillery then bring the squad back once you've killed it to come on and retake their objectives/kill you before you finish off the artillery. | |
