1000 point army bulk for tourney - solid or liquid?

I've been reading forums from this site for a while now and finally decided to register!

What I'd like are opinions on the bulk of my army list for the out-coming tourney. The games are played with 1500 point armies, with the specialty of keeping your 1000 point un-changeable "bulk" and the adjustable 500 points that you can change between the games. Here's my first 1000 point.

Haemonculus - Liquifier gun.

2x10 Kabalite Warriors – Splinter cannon.
2xRaider – Dark lance, splinter racks.

9 Wyches – Hydra gauntlets, haywire grenades.
Raider – Dark lance.

3 Trueborn – 3xBlasters.
Venom – 2xSplinter cannon.

6 Reavers – 2xBlasters.

Ravager - 3xDark lances, night shields.

There you have it, hopefully the list raises opinions.

That looks like some solid stuff that will be useful against most opponents. Haywire Wyches are normally fielded in smaller units though - it looks like you've designed this squad to fight either against infantry or tanks, which may make them a bit expensive given their fragility (though I take it the Haemonculus goes here).

What did you have in mind for the extra 500?

I know the wyches are a bit expensive (I normally run one or two squads with number of seven). The haemonculus goes with them, giving them the FnP.

I played yesterday against an Ork player with a couple on battlewagons, a dakkajet etc.

I used a huskblade-build Archon with 4 incubi in a venom and a razorwing with dis. cannons, splinter cannon, flickerfield and night shields. Wiped him at the end of the game.

Your 1k list looks solid, but i would look into adding another troop option in the 500p, 3 troop options are a bit on the low side in my opinion for 1500 mission based games.

But for your 500p additional it's hard to fit it in. Incubi needs the archon, which leaves the razorwing. I also think you need another ravager, but thats me, i like the safety of the ravager. its long range, throw NS in and it is fairly durable as well. (for a DE unit of course)

In order to fit stuff that i want in the additional 500p i would dumb blasterborns for a ravager and distribute points somehow. not sure how. splitting one of the 10man troops into 2x 5man in venoms or something like this using the additional points given in the trade-in of blasterborns to ravager.

I am not calculating exact numbers here, it's all ballpark.

Like i said, i really like your 1000p, but i think it might limit your freedom in the additional 500p too much. But then again, it might be me being the limited one in not "seeing" it!

Thank you for a great feedback! Many things you brought up are something I considered as an alternative.

The main reason I didn't take the other ravager was to keep the one ace in my sleeve against an elite foot slogging armies. Deathwing, necrons etc. won't be turning that other cheek when the other ravager will load out it's disintegrator cannons. This flexibility I wanna keep. But I totally understand your point.

One of things I earlier had in mind was taking Illic Nightshroud and a squad of pathfinders, giving me that extra scoring unit + a very nasty character/specialty weapon cleaner. Only reason to back up from them was their cost. Over 350 points are just too high..

Oops, NightSPEAR and 265 points. Haven't clearly studied the new codex enough yet
