Final Verdict: The Court of the Archon

I have researched over 25 sites stating that they are very bad. They say they are not even worth it. Well i believe theres some potential, Think of an Archon With a huskblade and 2 Lhaemans. We have an Archon that hits at AP 2, and wounds on a 2+ and hes WS7 at the same time now put them in a venom along with him having a shadowfield and soul trap and we have a monster killer, CC beast and a very tough archon;) i dont think the court is bad ,please leave feedback

The mistress of poison rule only applies to weapons that were already poison sadly or else I'd agree with you.

Sure, read the rules. And most of the points mentioned will go away =).

1. Lhaemans only affect Poisoned Weapons, and on Archons thats only Splinter Pistol. So no super huskblade.

2. YOu have to take one of each in the court, so no 2 Lhaemans 1 Archon build in venom. Not even no 4 Mudusae/4 Sslyth build.

Also the agoniser is not a poison weapon, even if it wounds on a static 4+

Yeah, the problem with the Court is you have to take 1 of each. They in themselves arent bad, but add them together they are a unit that does not know what they want to do. Add in that the Lhaeman only effects the archon's splinter pistol (the only other poison weapon he can get wounds on a 2+ already) its just not worth it. I feel that they should of gotten the WG treatment, then they would of been better. But we will have ot wait and see...

I have used them and I have mixed feelings. It really comes down to every member being fairly good at what they do, but are forced into the company of all the other types. Do you like flexibility? If so, the Court can work just fine. If you like having a toolbox that can smoke out IG from cover, perform slightly above average in assault, or provide some S5 attacks against vehicle rear armor, the Court can work for you.

If you look closely, however, no grenades. That is a huge hurt. The Court needs to be able to assault effectively in order to justify it's cost. That, and the only "spammable" member is the worst one, the Ur-Ghul. The Sslyth seems cool, but it is inferior in CC to the Clawed Fiend or Grot. However, unlike those, it has a shooting attack and better armor save (barely).

But, at the end of the day, it is just a pain in the butt to track a bunch of unique, non-character models in the same unit.
