| Subject: 1850pt DE...venturing into new opponents and armies for the first time Tue Aug 13 2013, 13:41 | |
| Hello all,
So after my apocolypse game a few days ago I have made some new friends who want to play 40k with me! (yay!) I haven't really ever played against someone that wasn't one of my friends 1v1 (therefore I knew their lists really well). Now that I am facing a new opponent and his many armies I need to be better prepared with my lists because I have absolutely no idea what he will bring unlike before.
All I do know is that I am playing against Space Marines and I do know he owns a whirlwind and fliers. So here is my first shot at a 1850 list with CWE allies as well.
HQ: Archon (huskblade, shadowfield) (125 pt)
Elites: Grotesques (4 of them with liquifier) in a raider with nightshields (220pt)
Troops 2x 10 warriors with splinter cannon (2x 100pts) 2x 10 wyches with HWG in raiders with nightshields (2x 190 pts)
Fast Attack nothing to see here...
Heavy Support Talos (liquifier and splinter cannon) (105pts) Razorwing (135 pts)
CWE Allies Spiritseer (70pt) Wraithguard (w/ wraithcannons) in a Wave Serpent (with holofields, scatter laser, and shuriken cannon) (305pt) Wraithknight (with suncannon and 1 scatter laser) (300pt)
TOTAL: 1850 exactly
The idea is to provide some high distraction units like the wraithknight and wraithguard while the rest of my army shoots at the marines. I've kitted the knight with the suncannon for AP3 awesome sauce against the marine armor I'll face. Not sure if this is the best decision but I feel like it can work well. No upgrades for squad leaders to maximize the amount of units I'm fielding. I don't have anymore DE troops put together so adding more of those is out of the question btw. I do have FA options. No other elite options yet (working on that!).
Thoughts?

| I'm not a talos expert, but started to heavily test it in my recent games, and from my games, Talos don't go well together with fast CC units, like Wyches / Grotesques in raiders, becouse they won't catch up. What talos works great with, are gunlines and venoms, becouse they want to sit in the back, while Talos pose quite a nice thick wall of threat on the front. Eldar allies look good. Generaly looks solid, but those heavy support slot looks weird . If you're going to face flyers, go with voidraven bomber maybe? I don't find it an issue, to use razorwing model as a voidraven, and maybe a ravager? Talos won't have much to do, when your grots and wyches will rush up front. | |

| I find that the Talos adds some resilency if played right. He's great at being a area of denial unit and thus if I place objectives right, he can go to town on a small area and prevent pesky things from getting too close. Not to mention that 50/50 shot of melta marines away I feel like he is worth the 105 points. I don't own any ravagers...in fact I don't ever plan to really haha. I have a 2nd talos on the way! As for the voidraven that is an interesting idea for sure. I'd run it bare just for the lances of course and the random mine. | |

| I'd give the voidraven Flickerfield. Just for giggles, that you don't have to evade. It's realy good For talos stuff: He is indeed hell resilent. I'm also planing on getting more taloi :)But ppl just might ignore them, and focus on what is directly threating them = Grots / wyches. Also depending on map, single talos can be outmanouvered rather easily. That's why 2nd talos would probably be better, becouse it's rather hard to outmanouver two taloi at once. | |
