Poor Performances

We've all had them  those games when nothing ever works  and you just wonder why you bother rolling the dice.

There's plenty of posts about units performing above and beyond what they should, so  lets have a look at the other end of the spectrum.

I was running 2 ravager's, a crimson hunter exarch, a voidraven, an archon with a blaster with 4 blasterborn.  

despite  twinlinking any 2 of the above units with my farseer  ally every turn for 5 turns   they only managed  to do 2 hull points of damage the entire game.

It was just a bloody disaster,  Id hit  the enemy vehicles easily  and just  consistently roll under the AP roll needed.
Twice i hit  the rear armour (10) with my void lances  and twice i rolled double 1's.


so  if you've had Poor Perfomances    put it here.

For three turns in a row i failed the kill a immobilized dreadnaught with 1 hull point on rear armor with a blaster for the table. His reserves came in on 4 and i lost.

I had a game against Vasara and my lances absolutely failed me all game. However my 10 man warrior squad managed to inflict three wounds on mephiston during overwatch (despite BS1 and his 2+ save)!

One DL in a raider had an average roll of 2 in one of my games.
First time I fired it, it was a 2, so a miss.
Second time, a 3, so a hit. Then it was a 1, so not even a glancing hit.
Third, it was a 2 again.
Then the raider got blown up.

Game against 6 Wave Serpents with Dire Avengers and 3 Falcons.

Khymers failed most of their saves, ravagers were blown up first turn thanks to no cover serpent shields, bikes failed melta hits. Whoever says we have way to dealw ith serpent spam must have much better dice rolls than me.

Small Game against some Dark Angels acting like vanilla marines (5-man Tac. Squad w/ HQ in Razorback, 5-man Scout squad, and a dreadought)

Didn't pass a single jink save the entire game. Couldn't kill the scout squad from combined fire from 2venoms and their occupents (one got two turns of shooting at it). Couldn't blow up either the dreadnought or raxzorback all game basically (until a kabalite warrior with a blaster killed the dread. in overwatch and then tthe razorback in the next turn before he was killed in the last turn). I was completely wiped out by the end of turn 5 and had only killed the dread. and razorback thanks to that Kabalite (who has of course been regrown as a reward from his archon, who sees taht he could be useful in the future).

By turn 4 my opponent was apologizing and kept saying how sorry he felt (forgetting that if the tables were reversed the Dark Eldar would be doing the opposite of apologizing [evil laugh]

I played against last generation Chaos, with a flying daemon prince with lash (which I forgot about) and Noise Marines with a Doom Siren (which I forgot about). Incubi got wiped out when the prince moved them into perfect template formation. Everything I had missed everything I fired at (a Razorwing, back when it could unleash EVERYTHING in one turn, a Talos, a Ravager) and by the end of the game I'd been tabled having killed one Chaos marine. I wasn't expecting to do well with my far from optimal list, but I thought I would do better than that! Got my own back in the end, but that game still haunts me!

My Reavers Bladevaned this one Dire avenger unit yesterday and got 7 hits with bladevanes and 8 hits with the caltrops
The next roll got 6 1's and one 2 and on the caltrops got 4 1's and 3 3's lolz amd guess what 3 wounds all saved 4+ my jaws dropped lol i will never forget that lolz

Epic Lilith Fail: Playing against Tau with Lilith in the lead. Lilith assaults a crisis suit, who overwatched her with a melta gun, she dodged it. She hit at him with 13 attacks and missed them all. He hit her with two attacks and wounded her twice. She dodged them. Next turn some little tau punk fired an ion rifle at a raider and misses it but scatters the shot onto Lilith (while she is still in combat) yet misses the crisis suit. It kills her dead. The crisis suit, now not in combat and thus able to shoot, shoots his fusion gun at the raider and blows it up.

Against Tau: he got first turn, walks bit, shoots 30 Pulse shots, I lose 2 raiders and 1 hull point from ravager. Before my start, I lost 66% scoring troops O.o. Ok, I admit very poor field with no LOS blocking etc. Still pained like what. by end of my 2nd turn I had archon with 2 kabalites and 1 wych left *sighs*

it was a 1000p game vs a IG friend. I had 2 ravagers, 6 bikes rest was in raiders and venoms. Long story short game ended with me being tabled and i didnt manage to kill one of his units. I think something like 10 guardsmen died the entire game

The worst performance I have ever had was with Imperial Guard. Company Command Squad with Plasma Guns/Pistols out the wazoo. Baharroth and his goon squad show up. No problem for my uber-elite plasma guns squad.

Wrong. Dead Wrong.


Not only did they not do anything, the entire squad died because they all rolled ones and failed their armor saves. Unsurprisingly, the Commanding Officer booked it after that. It was then that I came to understand how absolutely horrible the Imperium and it's techpriests really were.

Yesterday evening, my succubus was allocated two wounds in CC by Lufgt Huron Blackheart.
She had already lost one wound  before.
She failed her two 4++ CC saves, then she failed her two 5++ FNP pain token, then the wyches within her unit failed their 4+ LOS.

Maths say she should have lost 0.3333 wounds ... she lost 6 times more.

Some of the lowlights from this evening's whitewash:

2 Venoms (one Guided) and a Ravager (with Prescience) firing for 2 turns against a single Obliterator without killing it

2 Wave Serpents and a Guided squad of Dark Reapers (incl Exarch with Flakk) plus Quadgun firing for 3 turns against a single Helldrake without killing it

Squad of Dire Avengers dismount from Wave Serpent onto objective only to roll a 1 on the Mysterious Objectives table (Sabotaged), a further 1 to set off the trap, wound every single one of them and fail every 4+ save.

Venom focus fire on a single Plaguebearer who was not in cover only to fail to kill it.

Wave Serpent, Venom and Ravager all fire on a Chaos Terminator squad with only 2 models left and fail to kill either of them.

You get the idea...

My friend has a Vanquisher tank with his IG. First game out it immobilised my raider that promptly returned fire and blew it up. I have never seen that tank hit a single thing since - tonight it fired three shots and missed, including at a building ...

Think my worst lately was trying out my DE again and trying the razorwings and void raven. After the helldarke came on the table in turn 2, all 3 of mine came on the same turn. I opened fire with all three, 2 wings and 1 raven and either missed of failed to penetrate/glance. 6 shots and wiff! Which actually brings up the point that the razorwing should best a fast attack choice, void raven is fine as a heavy. ER hem, anyhow the drake ripped my raven from the shy on turn 3 and my wings got shot down by oblits and some CSM missile launchers which I couldn't make a 5+ invul for either one. This won't prevent me from using them just how and when to fire the missiles, Which each defeat I learn a bit more finesse so should be able to get with the plan soon.
