| This is question my friend and I were wondering. Do Space Wolves just generally have a hard time dealing with us? All jokes aside my friend has been playing for like 15+ years and he's good but every time we play I almost always table him, I am quite litteraly the only player he can't beat. Can the same be said for most MEQ armies? | |

| Yes is the short answer. I play both wolves and DE and the current lists that wolves tend to bring really struggle against DE. Wolves at the moment tend to be lots of infantry in drop pods with rune priests with jaws and long fangs with missiles. Jaws does not bother us as we are initiative ridiculous and infantry has never been a problem for DE with the volume of poison shots we pump out. ( oh and the new grav weapons and bike spam from the new SM codex does not worry us one bit either). We are the ultimate spoiler army | |

| My Space Wolf playing friend, even though he has a pretty respectable record against my DE, always says they're the army of mine he struggles most against (the other two being Orks and Eldar). There's a few reasons we cited for this being the case: Dark Eldar respond ridiculously well to a drop pod assault. When those pods come down, I'd quite like to see a visual representation of how a Dark Eldar army reacts - sort of the opposite of the body fighting off an infection, as everything moves away from the pod slightly so it can't get charged next turn, then pumps the passengers full of poison. Both my friend and I were surprised in a recent game versus my DE. In the game before, I'd fielded my Eldar. He brought the drop pod down smack into my lines, as he loves to do, and by the end of my shooting he still had four or five guys left, including his Wolf Lord (this was the combined firepower of Dark Reapers, two Wave Serpents and a squad of Avengers). In our last game, in which I used my DE, he did the same again. Hellions, wyches and a Raider full of warriors shot at them, and when the dust settled there was the lord and Wolf Guard left, the lord having taken a wound. Then they charged the warrior boat, and met their end to overwatch. After the game, we both remarked that it was surprising that the DE did a lot more damage to the unit (which was actually tougher) than the Eldar did. Mass of anti infantry shooting can be achieved almost by accident in a DE army. Space Wolves, like a lot of marine armies, have a lack of barrage weaponry - personally, if I had marines, I'd never leave home without a Whirlwind, because you're not always going to be fighting other marines, but that's me. They're surprisingly uncommon, and would be really good against us as we struggle to get to stuff that's totally hidden and plugging away solidly. The one thing they have which I really, REALLY hate is Living Lightning. It's like it was designed specifically for knocking down our transports, and you can have four guys casting it a turn I wouldn't write them off totally, if they can grab hold of you they should maul you - but they do struggle to get there, and their leadership isn't brilliant. | |

| This sounds a lot more like; 'DE have good counters to Drop Pod Assault' Rather than; 'DE are good across the board versus Space Wolves' Has he tried a Razorspam list spamming Living Lightning and Long Fang squads? I bet he'll do better versus your DE list then I'm actually pretty happy that the current meta scared the Wolves back into their dens. | |

| What about huge packs of Fenrisian Wolves? In the codex they look alost like an afterthought. There is a SW player at the club that swears by them and he goes alright. Can't be too hard to find a cheap bag o' wolves at a toy shop. | |

| So I had the game the other day, and he ended up using a long fang living lightning list with eldar allies.
I won but barely, staying out of range helped (he used heavy bolters instead of missle launchers for the long fangs). But as his psycher moved up he started popping my transports with ease with living lightning. | |

| I've always done well against space wolves. Especially against drop pod lists but their foot slogging variants fall regularly as well. I haven't played em as much with the latest rules but I expect the same as folks have mentioned. Of course if my die rolls continue to suck all bets are off. | |

| Stop flirting with the Dice Gawd's Daughter then, it doesn't matter what she says or what sexy outfit she's wearing. You just can't touch her. | |

| As a former Wolves player I never had trouble with DE.
Long Fangs took care of the sail boats and the Grey Hunters took on everything else. Rune Priests get 2 powers..so I always take Jaws and Tempests wraith, living lightning and murderous hurricane on the other. It's situational though,I took a major thrashing from a DE player at a tournament.
The speed and shots on target really surprised me.
