Do you still use blasters?

... and if so are they still for killing vehicles or heavy infantry and MCs?

I used to love me some blasterborn action but now, like most people I think, Im noticing im playing against a lot less mech in 6th. I still run 3 x 3 lance ravagers but have dropped my 2 blasterborn units for 1 or 2 splinterborn units. This frees up points for more grots, reavers and beasts.

3 dudes with 2 splinter cannon sit in my deployment zone on top of a building and shoot all game, they rarely get shot at. Their venom or raider is free to find optimal lines of fire, pick up stragglers or block LOS to more important stuff.

I don't even put blasters on my warriors anymore. and have started dropping DL for dissies on raiders.

I find my ravagers, wyches, grots and beasts are all the AT I need.

Do you feel the same or is it just my local meta?

Splinterborn and Haywire Wyches seems to do more.

You can never have to much lances however.  So Ravager still go with them.

I dont even run Kabalites now.

I still run Blaster heavy, in the South East USA there are still numerous threats that Blasters are optimal for dealing with ranging from multi wound T4 models to, still, spammed mech.

I run Blasterborn with Dark Lance. I use Scourges to be pick up the Anti-Infantry like Splinterborn. The thing I do like about Splinterborn, is they have the ability to upgrade their rifles to shardcarbines for that lonely third guy, if you have the points to that is. Still to answer your question, I use the Blasterborn.

I'd rather use Sniperborn than Blasterborn. Though I do still use blasters for my warriors and scourges.

I actually consider shardcarbines pretty sub-par in the current game compared to the regular rifle. It's certainly not worth paying for as an upgrade anymore methinks.

Thor; off topic, but you're in the southeast US? I'm in bama and it'd be awesome to play a member of the dark city, even if I would get trounced.

I don't use blasers in my normal squads anymore...just doesn't mix with the AI nature of the warrior unit. I prefer the specialized method for a squad usually. I actually barely field lances with my current meta. I'd rather use wyches with HWG, my talos in cc or my WK/WG using cannons or assault.

Indeed, I am in Venice Florida, which is about an hour south of Tampa and about 8 hours from Mobile, albeit that involves going across the panhandle. So, I'm semi-close depending on what part of Alabama you are in.

I usually never game further North than Orlando except for specific big events.

Ah seems unlikely. I'm practically in Georgia, but I don't want to derail this poor members topic with my prattle so just PM me if you ever go to a mobile event I may want to attend.

As for blasters; I myself have far too little luck with low volume of fire, but the occasional Blaster in a 5 man warrior squad doesn't ever go to waste imo.

Better than wasting a raider full of warriors with racks on a desperate "I have to kill this tank" gambit at least.

Personally I find that I am using more blasters on my Reavers, where I know that they can do a lot more than a single snapfire blaster shots from within a vehicle. For anti-tank I have started to move towards wyches with Haywire Grenades and long-range Dark Lance shots.

I still see mechanized and I love dark light but I've found my preference to be a mix of lances, assault anti tank and eldar allies for mass medium strength shots.
