| With the introduction of super heavies to 40k (with no indication that we will even be able to bring the titan Hunter formation) and the potential of them being legal in tournaments ( I have no knowledge on that front). Are DE taking another round about nerf, "ala' every assault change in 6th?
How do we work around this? Treat it as any other death star? Revel in our new found position as a "horde army"? Or flock even more en mas to ally with our craftworld cousins? (The last one leaves quite a bitter taste in the mouth.
As pure speculation I do believe this ups the probability of new codex... es? For any army that doesn't have a 200 ish dollar giant plastic kit that you will pretty much have to buy. .. and admit you kind of want to because it really is almost that cool. So maybe Dark Eldar will be getting their update next year. Seems logical from a sales standpoint as orks, guards and nids are all just gushing with apoc units already (nids more of course).

It's an expansion. It'll probably get played for about two months. Then everyone will forget about it.

| I'm not especially worried about Escalation or Stronghold Assault myself - they're just supplements designed to sell more super heavy vehicles and fortifications, and aren't part of the core rules, so their inclusion in your games will be entirely optional, just like Aerial Assault. Maybe it'll ultimately mean we get more attention more quickly to address any perceived imbalances too. Perhaps they're paving the way for their inclusion in the standard rules in the next edition, but until that happens I think tournaments and the like will still draw a distinction between these supplements and the main rules. | |

| The latest White Dwarf does point out that both Eldar and Dark Eldar will have access to Revenant Titans, as if letting us have access to a construct used by our emasculated monastic cousins is supposed to be some sort of consolation to us.
From a fluff point of view, it seems to me that super-heavies and fortifications are exactly the kinds of things that we would ignore and manouevre round. Dark Eldar use their speed and agility to strike where the enemy is weak and run off with scores of slaves. We don't throw ourselves headlong at the enemy's strongest positions like thick-skulled guardsmen. Although I suspect that many players will not appreciate "just don't play it" as a response to these new add-ons.
I don't think that we are suited for Apocalypse either for similar reasons, and so I don't know the rules for super-heavies. Are they somehow resistant to haywire? Any reason not to try a good, old-fashioned Raider rush with squads of Wyches wielding HWGs?
[EDIT: fixed typos]

In all honesty I've played 10+ games Apoc in 6th using my DE and have never found our lack of a super heavy to be a handicap. If anything, it prevents us from having a huge point sink that takes away from our main strengths of speed and target saturation. Aside from a single game where an unscrupulous player used a Phantom Titan on a table that he designed...for his Phantom Titan with 10 FW Corsair Princes for the nightfight missile every turn after shooting 2 10" D-cannon templates, I have never really found superheavies to be all that much of a problem.

| From what I heard they arent expansions. They are allowed in normal 40k games. GW seems to have wisen up and realized that no one plays with their expansions (other than Apoc).
I wouldnt really worry though. I doubt they will bring hull points over to regular 40k. If they dont, then our lances will be amazing. Being able to instant kill a 4th of their army in points will be hilarious.

| Have you seen the new Dataslates? Basically allies that you can take in addition to your allied detachment. The first one is the Tau Firebase Support Cadre which allows you to add a Riptide and 6 Broadsides to your army and give them all Tank Hunter and Preferred Enemy (Space Marines). That's 570 points before any upgrades. Add in some Eldar allies and you might just have enough points left over to buy a Haem and 2 3-man units of Wracks for the Dark Eldar Primary Detachment! | |

| I saw that. Anyone that can take Tau as an ally can take that??? Man, always thought our desperate allies as a burden, but this might be a blessing in disguise | |

| Usual ally restrictions apply so they'd still be desperate allies but they'd still presumably be battle brothers with our Eldar allies. No markerlights though, unless you can purchase marker drones for the Broadsides. | |
