The Monthly Vow, December - prepare for new Bug swarms Empty
PostSubject: The Monthly Vow, December - prepare for new Bug swarms   The Monthly Vow, December - prepare for new Bug swarms I_icon_minitimeWed Dec 04 2013, 08:39

The Void Raven will be available for Christmas!!!

Oh wait, the fine print says Christmas 2014 Sad

In the meantime, we have to brace ourselves for lots new Bugz in January.  And you know what that means, ........ POISON, lots of poison!

So make a vow, right now, of how much poison you are going to brew up this month in advance of the new Tyranid swarms hitting the tabletop.  What will you achieve during this month of December, and what form of poison will it take - projectile or blade, a secreted vial, or perhaps just a delicately manicured fingernail, deceptive with its apparent lack of threat?

Show us your progress with some WIP pictures and then some more of your finished product.  Otherwise, you might find a hungry Genestealer waiting for you under the mistletoe Very Happy

Denizens and their vows for the month of December (completed in purple):
____________________________________________________________________

Cavash -  finish 1 Talos and 2 Grotesques, and make a Night Lord.

Count Adhemar -  paint 2 Tau Broadsides and 1 Riptide, plus 6 Marker Drones.

Evil Space Elves - convert 1 Secret Santa Raid gift, assemble and paint a Clawed Fiend, 4 Razorwing Flocks, 3 Incubi and 1 Archon's Challenge HQ (still deciding).  Paint a Venom for the Archon's Challenge.

Gobsmakked - convert and paint 1 Venom, 1 Haemie and some other passengers for the Archon's Challenge.

Khain mor - finish 5 Hellions and 10 Wyches.

Due to my failure of last month's vow I will finish my Yellow Coven's Talos and 2 Grotesques along with making a Night Lord with his own fluff.

This month I plan on painting up 2 Tau Broadsides and a Riptide plus six Marker Drones.

I actually made a list of all the unpainted 40K models I have in my cupboard and it's scary and slightly demoralising!

finally have the DE itch again. For December:
-Convert my Secret Santa Raid gift
-Assemble and paint a Clawed Fiend
-Assemble and paint 4 Razorwing Flocks
-Assemble and paint 3 Incubi
-Assemble and paint my Archon's Challenge HQ(still deciding)
-Paint a Venom for the Archon's challenge

It's a lot to chew on, but I will have the last two weeks of December off from work cheers

I am really getting a serious itch over next month's new Bugz, but I have restrained myself for now and I will convert and paint 1 Venom, 1 Haemie and some other passengers for Stage 6 of the Archon's Challenge, Christmas edition.

I really, but really need to finish my 5 hellions and 10 wyches. I haven't touched them for over 2 weeks and they're so close to being done, hellions 97%, wyches 90%

It's my Beastmasters all over again, took me several months to get those finished ><. I have to admit, this year was a very bad painting year, barely got anything done, hopefully next year will be more productive.

Just keep on painting, eventually stuff does get painted, even if you paint at high standard, you can still get quite a lot stuff done over time, best example is Evil, check out his massive force, with such a high standard. I'm not completely useless either, I got a nice couple of hundreds of models painted too, but still have so many of hundreds left to paint. It does demoralise a bit, but the best thing to do is to just to keep painting. What should make you feel better is the fact that some people have massive apoc armies, unless you're one of them, you should feel pretty OK.

Now most apoc player know what they're getting themselves into and accept the crazy consequences.

Broadsides finished. Will get some pics up over the weekend. Onto the Riptide next. I suspect there's zero chance of getting that done before new year though.

Minor conversion work, just thought it would be cool to have one with a giant axe  Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

As for the Secret Santa Raid, I'll be sending something straight from the shelf. Time is at a premium this year.  Mad

This was totally not a part of my vow, but will be used as evidence at my trial for what distracted me from finishing:

...and here are those Incubi:

Doubtful that I'll get the HQ done for the month, or the Venom. Angron butchered my painting schedule  Razz

Success: Clawed Fiend, Razorwing flocks, Incubi all completed and painted; Secret Santa Raid gift converted and sent
Unexpected success/sabotage for the rest of the list: Painted Angron!
Total Failure: HQ for Archon's challenge assembled, but no paint, Venom somewhat basecoated but not completed.

Not a bad haul for the month. That Angron model came out of left field and sucked all of my time this month, but was totally worth it  Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
