| Ive decided to start a new army (guess what one) after a two year break from the hobby due to schooling. Now that that is over, I can now fill my time with hobby again. I never really put much effort into making my armies unique before, so ive decided to go all out on this one, and convert, paint all those extra tricky things those cool cats do, etc etc etc that I couldnt be bothered to do before. My aspirations are high, and ill need some input if I dont want to crash and burn. TLDR: I want to make my army unique, and require some help My Kabal name is going to have 'Brides' in it somewhere ( A tribute to a band I discovered today, and because it sounds cool. If you have any suggestions, leave them below ) Getting to the point, brides are often not males, so does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can amend this issue? I dont have any mates co-collecting DE I could swap bits with, so would it be easy enough to *ahem* sculpt the additional bits with greenstuff? I did think about ebay but I couldnt find any solo female torso trades. <EDIT> Referring to Warriors mostly I also want to add a lot of roses and wedding themed items to decorate the army, so suggestions on sourcing them would also be appreciated Any other ideas are also welcome, I want to make this army unique after all! Thanks for any input in advance!

| Hi and welcome!
Nice hearing you're gonna start an army of dark eldar.
There are alot of female torso in the wych and warrior boxes, I believe usually 4 torsos at least. You can also go to different bitz shop and hunt.
Since you want o make it unique, I believe it's better to buy boxes like starter force etc. Give you the option to kit out your stuff with many parts. Mixing between wyches and kab, scourges etc. It makes your army stand out.

| Are you prepared to go beyond Games Workshop models? The downside if you do is that you can't use your models in a branch of GW, or official GW tournaments, but no problem at independent stores and tourneys. If you do, check out Raging Heroes: their current range includes both fantasy and sci-fi figures that are gloriously feminine, and stunningly sculpted. They are also about to finish their Kickstarter project, "The Toughest Girls In The Galaxy", due for release in March: Lots of models, suitable for 40K-sized armies. These models have to be seen to be believed! http://www.ragingheroes.com/pages/kickstarter-news | |

| They do look rater good, but I play pretty much all my games at GW stores. Would subbing bits from other armies work? | |

| Dark Elfs are a natural fit with us, and a lot of their bits work really well for cross conversion. I've also seen some excellent stuff done with Wood Elf bits, and have even done a bit myself, as cloaked heads are awesome. | |

Officially, GW store managers USED TO BE told that a model could have about 33% non-GW parts and still be allowed on a table in a store. Managers were also given discretion, so although an army made of Mantic figures wouldn't be allowed, a good GW army with a few sneaky foreign figures would be fine. Now, at Throne Of Skulls, the big tournaments held at GW HQ in Nottingham, there is a strict rule against ANY non GW, my friend had his Grey Knights army refused due to non-GW heads on otherwise totally GW bodies. I submitted images and information about my Skaven(from WH fantasy) Counts-As-Tyranids army, which is totally GW parts (or scratchbuilt), and they refused that too. I would expect that as the shops have gotten tighter and meaner, one would have the same problem there. Personally I boycott branches of GW for their attitude, but if your store is where you play, you probably shouldn't do proxies. It's a shame, I love proxy armies, as that is where the creativity really kicks off. Back to your original post then: 40K Eldar has female figures, most notably the Striking Scorpions; get some spare female heads to replace the Eldar pointy helmets, and they would be viable DE models. GW doesn't believe Gurlz can fight properly, so there are few female figures, and even fewer that have feminine lines, dynamic poses, or sweeping hair and clothes. Go on, treat yourself to a Raging Heroes girl, and see what GW are missing!

| Dark Eldar have the most gender-equal boxes, with a warrior kit 4/10 can be female, and with a wych kit it is 6/10. If you want all female bloodbrides, it shouldnt be too much a problem (unless you want to field them in *very* large numbers instead of one or two squads of 5. If you want wyches for troops, I suggest just accepting a few males in there Thor knows one male syren, though. | |

| I'd ask the store manager etc first. Is it a GW store? My local hobby store is not a GW store, so I suppose they don't have those silly rules... But I've never asked and tried though, so I might be wrong.
Otherwise, I agree on the mantis and Raging heroes bitx/models. They are fantastic, I got a box of blod vestals waiting for paint!

| Thank you everyone for all the input, you guys really know how to make the new guy feel welcome! I've decided to call my kabal "Brides of the Stillborn Rose". I used to have a local non GW centre but that closed down, so an official GW store is all I have (Perth is a tiny city). I will take that idea of asking the manager on the limitations, I don't want to build an army only to not be able to use it. I do know a pre-owned model place, so I shall see if I can source some models from there. Thanks again for the input! Maybe I can utilise some roses in a clever way.... | |

| why use the fantasy ones? They have sci fi versions with guns, though i'd still put the real splinter pistols on them. Now you can't use them at a local GW, one of the major reasons why these can't be substitutes for the real wyches, which are pretty awesome anyways, though I do admit, a little more naked would be cooler, but still very nice models.
