| Earlier today I was thinking about this concept and I'd never read about it being done. My guess is mainly because wyches are cheaper and well, trueborn are in that slot, and why wouldn't you take trueborn?
But as someone who has been playing all wyches as troops for a few months now, thanks to this escalation league (I have begun to miss my kabalite warriors), the fact that my scoring units are ALL basically suicide units has soured me (just a little, they're still awesome) to haywire wyches.
5 wyches with haywire grenades, throwing, then charging, is often overkill. However, you can field four blood brides with haywire, and average three hullpoints on the throw and the charge for the same cost. Why is it tempting me to take one less wych at the same cost?
Well mission rules really, if I'm going to throw away a unit, it would be great if it was in a slot that is NEVER scoring, and never counts as a VP unless it's purge the alien. And if you take suicide brides versus say blasterborn, I think you could debate which units is actually better. The blasterborn are definitely more versatile at almost twice the cost, but the bloodbrides are more effective and cost much less, albeit, they are a little harder to use what with randon charge rolls. BBorn have a threat bubble of 24" and BBrides have a threat bubble of 14"-24" depending on luck.
Has anyone ever tried this? I'm curious. If not I think I will.

| on the throw you can only throw ONE grenade per squad. So you should only get one pre-charge.
Interesting thought though. I've steered clear of bloodbrides as they never seem worth it to me.
What i DO love do use wyches for though is to take 10 in a raider, then you can usually assault two tanks at once. Losing the extra attack for a multi assault is meaningless when you only get one attack for using your grenades anyway!.

| Well I meant in regards to throwing one grenade and then charging. Equaling 5 attacks in total. As opposed to a regular wyches 6 attacks. But yeah, I'll have to try the multi-assault haywire at some point, just seems like it would usually only be effective against a mechanized list. | |

| got it. and yes, largely only useful against mechanized lists. If there aren't a good chunk of tanks, they won't be clustered for you to get into multi charge range.
Depends on the meta in your area though.

| A suicide squad that takes up a slot that could be used for more Blasterborn doesn't really seem worth it to me. | |

| In my experience Blasterborn end up being suicide squads anyway.

| Well, seeing as they have Darklight weapons, I tend to want them to actually go and shoot some armour. So, they tend to represent a waste of a transport vehicle and not survive very long themselves. At a minimum 81 points a unit, I struggle to utilize them very well. | |

| I concur with Timatron. In 5th, yeah, Blasterborn were great. In 6th, with explosion strength changes and nerf to FnP, Blasterborn really become suicide units - they might blow up a tank, but next turn they're mincemeat if they even get close to their target to begin with. | |

This is my experience with them as well.
