| Hey all, as the title says; i am currenly new to dark eldar and am wanting to expand my forces and come up with a list.
i dont know where to go from here. 40x warriros 4 raiders 1 archon warriors are the standard 9x splinter rifles 1x cannon.
i am unsure where to go from here and what to do for a list of around 1000 points to start out. any help would be appreciated.
just to confirm also, raiders can move 12 inches then have the squad inside fire all shots at full bs correct?

| At cruising speed, I believe the crew has to snap fire. | |

| You are going to need some anti tank weapons. Ravagers are the most economical way to add dark lances to your list, but you could do some trueborn squads, such as a small squad with four blasters in a venom (most people call this blasterborn I believe) | |

| So combat is 6 and everyone can shoot. Cruising is up to 12 and flat out is 24??
I have enough bits to make 4 true born with blasters. I can also get a venom

| A squad of Trueborn with Blasters on a Venom is a decent idea. It's a legal squad and a decent way to deploy them.
I'd say go for it, and if you decide to go further I'd +1 to the Ravager idea.
When you make up an army list consider putting Splinter Racks on your Raiders. Then you'll have a decent framework for a gun-boat Raiding army. I'd then be tempted to say use your Archon as Duke Sliscus (if you can get him in the points value) to give a boost to one of your Warrior squads. A quick round of maths tells me that 4x 10 warriors in Raider with Splinter Wracks, plus 4 Trueborn with blasters in a Venom, plus the Duke, comes to 953 points. If you're aiming for 1000pts to start with, that's my advice, with 47 points left to buy a few pieces of wargear and upgrades (where I then mention Flickerfields, and the extra Splinter Cannon on the Venom)
On your other question, its Combat Speed (6") and fire at full BS (but counts as having moved for heavies), or Cruising Speed (12") and fire Snap-Shots only. You can move Flat-Out (over 12", up to 18" I think and 24" on roads/clear paths) but I don't think you can shoot at all then.

| @squidmaster - flat out is done in the shooting phase, and passengers can't fire. I use that to give my opponents fits using rhino rush BA by opening and closing fire lanes with metal boxes . For the movement phase: Combat speed is 0-6", and passengers can fire as if they'd moved. Cruising speed is 6.1-12", and passengers may only snap-fire. Then you can go flat-out in the shooting phase if you so desire, which is 6" for normal vehicles, 12" for fast vehicles (can't remember if there's an extra provision for fast skimmers). I'd definitely go for the blasterborn in venom - I've been using them and they're pretty good. Warriors - I run 10 with a cannon on a raider with splinter racks in almost every list. It's a good spend, as twin-linking the rifles is nice. You definitely need anti-tank. Ravagers are, I've been told, a good way to do this, but my ravager fails consistently and often finds itself downgraded to a raider. Keep lances on all your raiders as they'll help. | |

| Ah, of course it is. I always get things like that mixed up(I've only recently been forcing myself to remember Turbo-Boosting is shooting phase too....)
On the anti-tank front, lets not forget his Raiders come with Dark Lances. That's four Dark lances he's packing already here.

| So would a viable list basis be 40x kabalites w splinter cannons. 4 raiders splinter racks flickershields dark lances 4 blasterborn w the duke Venom ? | |

| That list has you at 897 points without factoring the duke, so assuming he's 103 points or less (don't have the codex to hand) then it fits for 1k. The problem I have with it is that you aren't making use of the duke at all. Nothing benefits from his combat drugs, and the special rules he gives to a trueborn/kabalite unit he starts with re: improving their poison are wasted since he's running with blasters. You'd be better off running a non-named HQ instead - Archon with shadowfield and venom blade is relatively cheap and cheerful, and fits nicely. 2 attacks base means Trueborn aren't the worst in combat either. If you felt ballsy you could ditch the shadowfield and get a blaster on the archon as well.
That also works for the core of a 1500 list, where I'd suggest something along the lines of three ravagers with night shields, and 150 points spent on a unit of your choice. Should give you a relatively solid list.
