Wyches to Hellions

Hi there folks!

I recently started playing Dark Eldar and i'm absolutely loving it! Up until now i've been mainly playing a warrior/trueborn heavy list against my friends but i'd really love to give some other models a try, particularily the Baron and Hellions.

Unfortunately my funds are short so I cant buy a ton of new models, I do however have 20-30 wyches (Half of which are unbuilt) who i was hoping i could convert into Hellions to save money since I really dislike using the wyches.

Anyone have ideas of how i could go about this? I have an abundance of time, plasticard and green stuff to play with but a lack of inspiration!

If you have some Wyches to use as riders, all you need to do is build the boards.
My usual tactic for a build like this is to find a collection of items that you think will work as a base for boards (might require a glance through eBay or through a cheap toy store). Make a few mods, customize them a bit, and presto you have skyboards that you can just put the Wyches onto.

Well Wyches that usually hang from Venoms and Raiders have a good pose for Hellions. As For the boards - Guns are noprob for anyone who has warrior/raider sprues as there is abundance of splinter rifles and splinterpistols that can be easily converted to splinterpod guns. As for Glaives - I think some kind of spears would do OK... anyone said Spears from Wyches, Raiders, Venoms? :-)

As for boards... tricky.... but... plasticard... cut out wings... left and right separate so you can glue/GS it in angles. The shapes should not be too difficult, but I recommend doing them in pairs (putting one plasticard over another and cutting them together), because that way they will be really symetrical.

As for the "engine" part that is even more tricky. For this part I haven't found out anything that I liked yet. :-( I hope someone will give a good tip. :-)

Perhaps the head of biro's with the long thin bit cut off would make good engine looking jets? With a few plasticard fins mehaps?

I was definitely considering using the spears from venoms and raiders (The ones mounting trophies) as weapons as well as some of the left over spears from my Scourge squads for weapons. I like to go for minimalist looking vehicles with my Dark Eldar so i don't have anyone but the pilot and gunners on them, no one hanging off so the spare units will come in handy! I like the idea of biros for engines, the lid might be useful if cut in half to mount the spare splinter rifles into.

I'll be getting a new camera soon so i'll make a WIP thread about it and link it here, keep the ideas coming!

Then just slap wyches torsos and makeshift weapons on them. There are glaves there also, if you wish.
