| Hello all! First time poster, long time lurker here!
I'm a long time Ork player, but my LGS has just gotten two new players playing Orks there so I decided to shelve my fungus for now and pick up an army that didn't seem too far off from the orky mentality of "high offense/speed, low/no defense." I'm already use to hiding trukks in cover so I didn't think this would be too much of a stretch to learn the ways of the DE.
So I went out and purchased enough stuff to field at least 1750 points (I think), though I'm looking to start smaller then that around 1000.
Here's what I've got so far: 1 Archon 20 Kabalite Warriors 20 Wyches 6 Reaver Jetbikes 5 Hellions 5 Scourges 2 Raiders 3 Venoms 1 Ravager 1 Razorwing Jetfighter
None of the models are built yet, I'm not sure what options are worth the points and what not. Not sure if warriors should go in venoms or raiders, if wyches should go on foot or in transport. In general I'm a little lost on where to start a good core 1000 points to build upon later.
Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

Any help is much appreciated, thank you! kabalite tureborn in a venom with blasters are a good choice and upgradeing your venom to have 2 splinter cannons is a must. a tip for you is if the raiders are still in the box take them back and swap them for ravangers as you dont need to glue the 2 side guns on so you can run them as raiders or ravangers as they are the same model

| If you build the Wyches, make sure to use the Backpack Grenade Launcher thing(that I forgot the name of) because it gives you the defensive grenade rules, and a cover save can be useful when you assault something. This looks similar to what I run, so you should be alright once you get use to the army. | |

| As a general side note, as you said you "think" its close to 1750: Without any upgrades or wargear at all, these basic units come to 1297pts. For a starting 1000pts, it won't takes very much trimming (probably one or two Transports you don't have units for, and maybe one of the Fast units), but when you go for 1750pts you'll something else. Wargear and upgrades alone can probably boost this to 1500 (The Archons gear will likely push him to a much higher cost) but you'll want another unit at least, and I'd suggest looking at Elites. My personal opinion would be Incubi or a tooled up Trueborn unit to accompany the Archon. | |

| Squid says it right, MOAR ELITES is a good thing.
I'd also look at rounding out your heavy support. Your Ravager and razoring are both excellent choices, and I've got one of each as well. I've got 2 Talos and a Cronos pain engine I mix and match into the list, and have considered grabbing another Ravager. YMMV, maybe hold off until you learn your preferred play style.
Either way, lookin' good!

| I would put the Wyches in the Raiders and get them in the fight as soon as you can, you seem to have a lot of fast attack options which is good, Dark Eldar are a blitzkrieg army. Though loading up a Raider full of Warriors and having Splinter Racks on the Raider is a good combo against infantry. But with the jetbikes, scourges, hellions and the raiders, you should be able to get in the ememy's face really fast. And don't be like me, give your Archon an upgraded weapon for close combat, doesn't matter what it is, just don't let him go with nothing, he will get pwned. | |

| Thanks for the great advice. I'll build and paint what I got. Then probably expand with some incubi and a 2nd ravager. Thanks again! | |

| Most importantly, have some fun, don't get discouraged while you're learning the rules; and kick some righteous butt in the name of DE! | |
