What to start with

Salutations Community,

Hi I'm looking to start a DE army but I don't know what to buy I plan on buying the battleforce so I have a good set of units to work with. Along side that I was wondering what else I should buy I don't know what I'm getting for my first paycheck yet but I believe it will be enough to buy a sufficient force so if you have any good units I should buy please tell me. Also my friends I usually play with are Dark Angels, Necrons and Tau.

I know the Battleforce does not come with an HQ choice or any Venoms, so you could get whatever HQ you wanted and maybe a Venom or two to put the Wyches in.

This is definitely a good starting point. From there I would honestly say your direction would depend on what type of army you want to play. Do you want to play beasts, do you want to play reavers, do you want to try your hand with high toughness grotesques?

There are many stiles which all can be made to work so I agree with getting your HQ and then a venom or two, and I would add a Ravager or two for AT support, but then you'll have to make a decision on the type of army you want to play. I would recommend if you are unsure (and even if you already have an idea) to watch a great number of the many batreps and check out the realspace raids page where some great illustrated batreps reside to get some ideas.

However while you are deciding the battleforce and the recommended gives you a great starter army. Two Ravagers for AT and heavy support, your HQ, a squad of 10 in the raider and then two squads of 5 in the two venoms (warriors or wyches in either depending on how you want to play them), and 3 jetbikes for a quick though small unit.
