Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has ran or had luck running, the 40k approved Forgeworld Dark Eldar Tantalus in a tournament scene? I know the cost of the model is a bit steep and the armor values are not that huge of a boost, but it is a pretty model and I want to run one in tournaments that are coming up.

What is everyone's opinion on this?

I have one but would only run it as a dedicated transport for the court... The HS slots need to be AT

Throw a Haemey and 7 grits into it and go full speed ahead into something that looks big and scary.

With its capacity - a big unit of Grots could be very scary as well

It's expensive as hell. With a barebones Haemey, barebones Grots, and a barebones Tantalus, you're looking at over 25% of a 2K point list allocated to just one unit. You'd have to build your list around supporting that one unit, and adjust your tactics accordingly, which could prove to be difficult.

That's why I refer to it as the "F&*# ALL REASON" unit. Smile

I really like the tantalus, my biggest issue with it is due to the model size your deployment of it is key to stop it being popped turn 1 but the grot bomb works really well with it and makes a large mess of of whatever you throw it at. The 12 AP2 shots are pretty awesome as well. I think it could work in a tourney but the list would definitely have to be built to support it.

I was thinking of 7 Grots w/1 haemonculi and maybe Lady Malys. Can't hurt right?

1 haem with a crucible
the Tantalus with Torment Grenade launchers.

With how big the Tantalus is: Maybe it will work
