Ads are obnoxious

Hmmm...I see what you mean. I'm sure the ad banners are there to pay the bills, right?

I think Baron or Sky could switched something on by accident... There was no indication we would get bannered in mod section.

Actually if we could get all ads on bottom of page, then we could afford some prizes for annual contests without raping GAR's wallet (because right now he'll generously provide some stuff).

Yup.

Install and if it doesn't already block the ad that bothers you, you can tell it to do so.

You can also manually block any element of a webpage by getting it to open "blockable items".

I haven't seen any ads anywhere for over a year.

I just installed this It's an alternative to raising around $15USD.

Any ideas on finding a way to raise this? Hell, I'd chip in for sure to have visitors not see banners.

I have enabled a link in the forums footer called Contribution which will take you through to a page where you can donate.

We only need to raise 2000 credits to be ad free for the next year.

Whether everyone wants to think about fund raising to buy a real domain name is a different debate and/or you'd like to see real ad banners to support real prizes for competitions.

I have no idea what these "credits" are, but I put my money where my mouth is and just put us 672 "credits" closer to not having adds for a year using my Paypal account.

Is there a good way of posting a thread with a tracker so that we know how close we are to reaching this magical 2000 "credit" mark?

With thanks to ESE and Gobs we are now ad free for the next 6 months and need less than 200 credits to extend that again in half a years time.

There is no saving after 6 months so made sense to use what we had now.
