DE Psykers?

I was perusing the latest issue of WD Magazine and I spied something that may be of interest. On pg 30 of the magazine(At least in the American copy), there is a note on the bottom left corner headed with the word Blunts.

It states, and I'm paraphrasing, that some armies have no psychic ability at all on the battlefield and then suggests that Tau and Necrons ought to kill enemy psykers quick. Are they referencing that now Dark Eldar will have psykers, or simply that, because we have Lady Malys, we have some sort of psychic presence.

This may be something, or it may be nothing, but I wanted to hear what my fellow Archons have to say about it.

They may add a new mechanic to the Dark Eldar. You never know. We will know in Nov

Wouldn't that be fluffbreaking on the level of Grey Knights killing of a bunch of Adepta Sororitas just to paint their armor with their blood?

A little bit. DE fluff fairly strongly says "Vect will kill you for using a Psyker or having one around".
It's feasible that the whole anti-Psyker/Webway/Slaaneshy thing might give us some sort of bonus to Deny The Witch? Whiuch would be nice.
But ah, this is speculation again, and we have only a week to find out for sure.

Meh. To be honest the white dwarf isn't innacurate. The tau and necron simply do not have psychic powers. On the other hand dark eldar have a psychic presence they're just forbidden to use it.

Makes me think of out fantasy counterparts. Male dark elves are forbidden from using magic, mainly to prevent any challenges to malekith, not so much the survival of the race. However, last army book they added doomfire warlocks witch were an exception to this rule.

So in my opinion, adding a psyker to dark eldar isn't necessarily unfluffy, if the fluff is handled properly, if they just ignore what little bit of fluff we have and add psykers to dark eldar,inviting she-who-thirsts over to commorragh for tea, then we'll all be sad. But, if say, haemonculi created a psyker unit at the behest of vect, that shuts down at the at the slightest daemonic tickle, well, that'd be easier to swallow.

Or maybe we will get something like outcast psykers.

The reason we don't have Psykers are 1) "Slaanesh will eat you" and 2) "If Slaanesh doesn't eat you, Vect will". So I see nothing in the fluff that says we "cannot" have psykers. They would just have to be fluff'd as the tools of renegade Kabals/etc.

No Psykers. No Psykers. If DE get Psykers I'm just going to stop playing ad carry on with my CWE. I'm mainly in this for the fluff, and if the background's already been established that we don't like Psykers then we really shouldn't be using them. If they include alame captured Psyker unit I'm going to be annoyed, too.

Power from pain:
"Dark eldar feed on the souls of their foe..."

Isn't the ability to feed on the psychic energies of others a psychic power?   

Yes, but the thought of using an actual psychic unit annoys me greatly. We utilise them for entertainment. We devour pain. Shattering CWE stones gives a great feeling of ecstasy, which is probably due to being sensitive to psychic stuff too, but I will not be happy if they change it so that we use Psykers.

Making them into weapons, such as the Animus Vitae does not irk me, I think I should've been more clear. I mean an actual character or unit that has a living psyker bound to our will. That's the kind of thing I think GW would do, and I would not be happy with that.

The thought of the DE having latent psychic power is fine, I mean that's a widely accepted thing, but actually using psykers as a unit isn't right for the DE.

Again, the mechanic for us may be different. We may have arcane gear that gives us a "psycher" presence on the board. Again, we will not know until the Dark Eldar 7th edition book is released.

In my Exodite Army list I allow for a Character who is an exile from Commoragh, due to developing psycic powers.

Basicaly a random DE character with a random ability.

Given that DE/E are one of the few battle brothers remaining in 7e, I seriously doubt we'll get psykers.  If you want them, ally in some CW Eldar.

For that same reason I don't think we'll get any type of "psychic" wargear.
