Mobile app...?

Well as a person that goes around and longs to read the forum on the go (I know i can view on my phone but still)

I was wondering if there is or ever will be an ios app for The dark city?

This would be sooooooo cool and i would love this to be a real thing !!!

This is a forum run by volunteers and as a mobile developer by profession I can say that it's just not worth the cost or time. You would get very little functionality over the current web version (which btw you can switch to normal web view if you feel the condensed mobile version is missing features). In addition to incurring more maintenance costs.

Then there's all the problems with the back end being mostly out of our control as it's the domain of the forum provider/host.

Native apps are great but forums are one of the cases where a "mobile first" designed website would be much more appropriate in terms of flexibility and ease of development. The current web condensed version and the option for traditional views provided by the current forum host although not ideal seem to cover those angles reasonably well for free (in terms of time and development cost).

What additional functionality would a dedicated native app bring? What is the current version missing?

What I'd like to see is Tapatalk support. Don't know if that's possible though.

Sadly we can't.

Forumotion (our forum provider) doesn't support it.

No worries. Good mobile theme for the forum would be the best alt option then.

I'll echo you all and say that I'd love to see something in the way of an app but as Mush has answered, it's not really needed.

However, I love suggestions so please keep them coming.
