| My wife plays Dark Eldar and is struggling to get Lilith in to combat effectively against my Nids, marines or IG. This weekend she declared, almost on the brink of giving up on her, that she was just going to use the models she'd got painted and not over-think it.
Here's the beat-stick that she destroyed most of my army with:
Lilith Archon, BPistol, Shadow Field Archon, Djinn Blade, Shadow Field Haemonc, CoF, Hexrifle Haemonc, Dark Gate, Stinger Pistol 20 Wracks.
with a couple of ravagers, two units of reavers, haywire wych suicide squads and a talos to distract me, that blob above just happily marched across the board and in to combat making 2+ inv saves for fun, look out sir rolls when called for and more than her fair share of FNP. Of course when it hit, it hit hard.
So really, I'm looking for your thoughts denizens... had any joy with something similar since the advent of 7th? Think of any ways to improve it? (bearing in mind it's pretty damn costly as it is - nearly 750 points!)

| Lilith is such a gorgeous model, but needs so much help to be good.
That said, there are a few tricks you can use. Walking her across the board isn't ideal, probably a Raider would be better.
Getting her into combat and getting the most out of her can be dependant on 2 tricks. First, try and get the unit she is charging pinned, that prevents overwatch. Getting the Raider close with Trophies can try and maximize that. Then Reavers are probably the best bet to try and pin, though there are a few other pinning weapons we have.
Second, you want the most amount of attacks out of her, so try and make sure someone in her squad has phantasm grenade launcher, that gives the squad defensive grenades, and there is a chance to blind the opponent making them WS1 (this is low percentage chance). The other more expensive option is to bring in some allies and run her with Jain Zar, on the first turn of combat she reduces opponents WS and I by 5.

| Try out the best Lelith delivery system there is - the Grotesque nuclear missile! Four Grotesques, one of which is Abberation, Urien and Lelith all in a raider with Aethersails. First turn, aim and speed away at whatever you want dead. Then watch as the opponent shoots EVERYTHING at this tough, scary unit (average toughness is 5 all the time!) brushing off tons of wounds with FnP. | |

I like the sound of that - wouldn't want to face it though! The only other gripe with that is having to drop £60 on four grots that look exactly the same. | |

| Oh, just look at all the wonderful Grotesque conversions - barely anyone uses the tapdancing clones that GW is selling. Rat Ogres with Talos parts is a common theme, I have also seen Warmahordes Ogrun Spearmen converted with Talos parts into lovely Grotesques. The great thing about Haemonculi coven units is that they really have no limits -how- they look like, so there's tons of creative freedom! | |

| The beauty of the grot (from a modeling standpoint) is the fact that it's as convertible as an ork trukk.
Now I'm sure someone else can direct you better than I but it's my I understanding that island of blood Skaven rat ogres (cheep cheep on eBay) with a few Talos bits make easy breezy beautiful cover-grot.
I've never done it myself but I own two IoB rat ogres and one of the sculpts is, imo, already a grot lol.
Mod please confine my double post as I can't "edit" from a phone :/
I'd actually love to hear more on the speamen. Are they a plastic model?
Done. Gob. | |

| Cheers for nudges in the right direction there. I haven't looked at any conversions for her Dark Eldar as I tend to be too invested in my own projects but now that I've seen those I' m going to have to give it a go.

| If you're looking for a cheap alternative to grotesques I reccommend having a look at the plague monsters booster from mantic games. They are pretty good scale wise and are good looking models, also 4 cost the same as 1 GW grot. They're also all differently posed which makes a nice change imo. | |

| The Privateer Press Ogrun Spearmen are more of a plastiresin sort of thing than real plastic, so superglue will be absolutely necessary. Also PP plastiresin models have some annoying and difficult to get rid of mold lines, so keep that in mind. | |

| If you like the tubby cuddly feeling, you can use the Ogre Kingdom models. Buy a box of Ogre Warrirors, Talos/Cronos masks on ebay and some green stuff = profit. Optional - buy bits from the Grotesque/Cronos set. Such as weapons, appendages, and bones jutting out. Example: | |

| She had 20 wracks in the squad? If so you can only have 10 max. That might change some things for her. | |

| I have had great success with her, four grotesques and (thanks to 7th ed) a Farseer in a raider. She starts outside the raider with a rack squad and then joins the grotesques in a raider giving the unit two pain tokens... Give the Farseer the Shard of Anarus and the quad is fearless. Give the raider ethersails and it can fly just about anywhere... It's a brutal hammer squad that is extremely difficult to slow down.
