| Hello everyone, Codex says: For every three models in the squad, one reaver may replace his jetbike's splinter rifle with a special weapon, and after: one model per three reavers may take talon or caltropsIt means that a unit of 9 jetbikes (8 reavers + 1 arena champion) could have 3 blaster (one every 3 models) but only 2 caltrops (one every 3 reavers)? Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english. | |

That's correct although I'm not sure that anyone would have too much of a problem if you had 3 caltrops in a squad of 9.

| In the german translation it is all the same. 3 blasters per 9 jetbikes and 3 caltrops per 9 jetbikes. Although, I prefer the heat lance. It's cheaper and with AP1, melta and lance, well, better. | |

| I think I see why you're saying only 2 Caltrops, but I'm pretty certain that for the purposes of this the Arena Champion still counts as a "Reaver Jetbike". | |

I don't think it does but I've never even noticed this before the OPs post and I've seen literally dozens of lists with an arena champ and 3 x caltrops and not one person has ever had an issue with it to my knowledge. There's also the good old argument over whether you can buy an upgrade for a model and then a further upgrade that changes the model to something else that isn't allowed the first upgrade (eg buying a Kabalite Warrior a Blaster then upgrading him to a Sybarite).

| I don't think it is different between the two. I would still say 3 and 3. the arena champion is still a reaver jetbike.

| I have always done and seen it as 3 and 3 arena champion is still a jet bike, and no one has ever questioned it, including me, granted I don't model the arena champion with either option, as is doesn't have access to those options. | |

| Wouldn't the line of reasoning that makes an arena champion not a reaver also remove the ability of tactical marines with a Sergent from being able to take a heavy weapon? The Sergent isn't a tactical marine, right? | |

This means he could take a blaster. - megatrons2nd wrote:

No, because the codex says: if the squad numbers ten models (not ten space marines).

| An arena champion is still a reader jetbike. Just like a space marine tactical sear gent is still a tactical space marine.. | |

| From my understanding the Arena Champion wouldn't count as a reaver, it's why the unit can go up to 10, 1 being the champion, the rest Reavers. | |

| Traditional problem with Rules-as-written and Rules-as-intended. I am afraid that the ruling should be "no, Arena Champion is not a Reaver Jetbike", it is not written ANYWHERE. Its not the first badly written rule in GW history. We all know he is, common sense says that he is, but the rules dont. OTOH I have never seen anyone else notice that and most ppl play according to the "common sense" ruling. | |
