Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull Empty
PostSubject: Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull   Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull I_icon_minitimeMon Oct 27 2014, 04:05

Hi fellow denizens of the Dark City. So this is my first ever draft of a Kabal. Hope you like it ! (note, English is my second language).

-Introduction

The Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull is relatively new Kabal in Dark Eldar society, being made up mainly of disgraced and treacherous Kabalites (even by the standards of the denizen of the Dark City), Hellion gang members and Reavers. All share a common trait : their unending lust for murder. Torture and murder are common in Commorragh, but for the warriors of the Slaughtered Skull, murder tends to be more important, common and to be considered a pleasure in itself rather than a mean to an end.

-Genesis

The Kabal was made up by Archon Vharesque Draek, a former Half-born Kabalite who grew tired of the games of power and intrigue of the Kabalite life style. To him, nothing was more exciting than the thrill of the hunt in realspace, and he grew to relish more and more the life on the battlefield, even over the various vices the Dark City had to offer. A peerless warrior and a vicious killer, Draek was always on the hunt for a bigger challenge. The pleasure of the flesh and other mundane vices could not satisfy him as much as the thrill of his prey running or fighting him, and the diverse political fight and plots of High Commorragh were boring compared to the excitement of a perfect duel ending with the beheadind of an enemy. Tired of it, Draek left his Kabal, the Dark Phantasm to join a gang of Hellions named the Blood Hunters, terrorizing the depts of the Dark City by entering in ''blood hunts'', random events during which the hellions gangers would pursue and kill anyone considered a worthy bounty. Draek, always the peerless warrior, quickly rose throught the ranks by becoming the best hunter, eventually killing the then-present leader.
With time, the Blood Hunters came to be employed as mercenaries, their skill for the hunt and suicidal homicide appreciated by many Kabals. Eventually, other sociopaths came to leave their Kabal, Wych Cult or gang to join the Blood Hunters, preferring the constant state of bloodsport over the intrigues and other petty games of their previous allegiances.
Having now a solid following, Draek gambled everything he had on the chance of officially forming his Kabal. Being hired by the Kabal of the Dark Phantasm, his previous Kabal, Draek devised a coup in realspace where he openly challenged his previous lord, Archon Xeloryth, his frenzied gangers turning upon the Archon's court. Xeloryth thought he could easily defeat the young mercenary, but was quickly beheaded by Draek, who had spent way more time on the field of the hunt, tirelessly killing an uncountable number of foes. Defiantly showing Xeloryth's head up in the air, Draek proclaimed himself Archon of the new Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull, and challenged any opponent to his rule. A small number of warriors tried to oppose him, but one by one, they met their end on the edge of Draek's Hellglaive. Intimidated enough, the Kabalites accepted their new leader and bowed to him.
Now in charge of his new Kabal, Draek brought several major changes to it. The citadel of Xeloryth which was a den of vice and sadistic pleasures, was remade to become a training ground where the newest recruits of the Kabal would face captured alien foes and creatures to be ready for the battlefield. Always a lover of the thrill of the hunt, Draek made much of the Kabal fleet bound, spending most of his time in realspace on the hunt of new challenges, only going back to Commorragh to trade a number of slaves considered unworthy of killing and to bring back on the hunt new recruits.

-Recruitment

Few individuals are capable of joining the Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull. Either a Kabalite is born in it, either he's a sociopath trying to join it. Regardless of his origins, he or she will have to pass the various ''blood challenges'', ritual hunts and fights during which the aspiring member will have to deal with some sort of ferocious alien prey. Beastmasters mercenary are more than happy to temporary provide the Kabal with some of their most dangerous specimens in exchange of lots of slaves and the perspective of offering a free meal to it's critters. As such, the Kabal number is quite low compared to other Kabals. However, each and every of its warriors is an expert killer, having faced his fare number of Clawed Fiend, Ur-Ghuls and Khymaeras, plus any other rare specimen a beastmater happens to have. Once these challenges are passed, the newly appointed Kabalite will pass several years joining the hunting parties that stalk lower Commorragh, has to learn how to adapt his lessons to fight other Dark Eldars and threats of the Dark City. Each Kabalite is trained to fight in several fighting roles, both as a Kabalite, a Reaver and a Hellion. Once he or she is deemed ready, and that the time for new warriors to join the hunting fleet has come, the Kabalite will have to prove his worth in a series of unarmed fights with other warriors. Most of these fights aren't to the death, but nothing prevent a murder or two from happening. If the Kabalite fails one of these tests, he is left behind in Commorragh until the next time the fleet request new warriors.

-Colors

Members from the Kabal of the Slaughtered Skull tend to favour attacking the enemy during the middle of the night, using the darkness at their advantage to destabilize their foe. As such, their armours and suits tend to be jet black and grey in color, to blend perfectly with the darkness. Warriors who wear helmets usually have blood red lenses, as to give the impression of being fighting some unknow demonic predator to their victims. Warriors and wyches tend to dye their piece of cloth blood red, litterally dying it with the blood of their favorite recently slain prey. However, since some species tend to have blood of different color, their clothes can also sometime be of a different color. Always proud of their killing count, warriors wore various display of trophies, ranging from skulls, jaws, teeth, claws or some other bone that the wear as a talisma or piece of decoration on their armor.

-Battle tactics and asernal

Draek is a consumate killer, and this is a trait he share with all his followers. Most of them favour close-quarter tactics. As such, the Kabal counts a high number of Reavers and Hellions. Warriors are of course common, as with any Kabal, but there is also a high number of Wyches that join them. The Wych Cult of the Spiked Rose is permenantly fused with the Kabal, its members having come to enjoy the constant hunt and challenge the life style of the Kabal offered. Always the clever hunters, the Kabalites enjoy deep striking their Raiders on the battlefield, surprising their opponents when they least expect it. The raiding parties of the Kabal usually like to surprise their foes during the middle of the night, sendind fast and mobile squads of Hellions and Reavers to harass the enemy before Raiders full of Kabalites and Wyches appear out of nowhere to out shoot the distracted enemy. Once the adversary is fatally wounded, the Kabalites close-in to secure their kill and their trophy, and it often happens that two or more warriors or wyches come to hunt the same prey.
