30k & 40k Sisters of Silence and Custodes Rules

Anyway, i think it lucky for us that all the Sister new special rules do 0 against pure Dark Eldar.

They can't be taken as Allied detachments, they have no HQ at this time, nor can they be taken in any formations as they don't have any released formations right now. So it is Unbound or you can't take them in their current state.

Well a lot of Dark Eldar players ally in CWE so it will definitely hurt us any tournament Dark Eldar who is relying on psykers from our kin.

Looks like there is an answer! Custodes and SIsters are Unbound ONLY for now! There are no Detachments or Formations.
Thats actually REALLY disappointing.

I am expecting more when they do the next book on the space wolves - timed with the release of the daemon primarch magnus... the SoS and custodes come to finish the job they started on prospero 10000 years earlier

I couldn't help but compare the Sisters of Silence squads with our very own Incubi, as when sisters are equipped with their melee variant(free), they have a very similar statline and weapons to incubi. In fact, the only difference is sisters have +1 leadership, while having 1 lower WS. But they also come with the culexis assassin's anti-psyker power "psychic abomination" that basically makes all psychic powers simply not function in a 24" bubble around them, they get psyk-out grenades, precision shots/strikes against any unit containing a psyker, and reroll hits vs. any unit containing a psyker. They can ally with all armies of the imperium. Oh yeah, and they have Fearless and Fear for 5 points cheaper, per model, than incubi.

Yeah. I really sucks that GW couldn't put together some sort of small Formation to actually include these properly in games. Very disappointed in that.

I'm thinking they will probably fix that so that they're able to be included in lists. I suspect that they meant to allow them to be taken as elites in any imperial army, but they forgot to include that line in their rules.

Turns out with the way facebook formats the visitor comment section I can't link you to it directly. Most recent comment they have given this answer to is Frank Ramsay who is a different person that the BoLS article, and it is an almost verbatim answer.

You don't. you'd tarpit them with somehting with obsec. not sure what that would be tho.

I suppose you are right, was flicking through my CSM and DE books and couldn't think of a unit that could consistently be relied upon to kill them off a point

I can only think of one thing that would effectively tarpit them: a fearless squad with 15+ wounds and an invuln and that's either a very expensive squad, or something that has a massive drawback like a wych squad that can't fit in their transport... It'd be expensive but best odds I'm seeing is 15 wyches with a covens haemonculus on a tantalus with something to tank the first round of overwatch.

And by the stage you have assembled a force to tie them up effectively; or even kill them. Well at that point you have weakened your overall force that is having to face down their Marine allies.

Those are 30k Rules. They can't just be used in 40k for the same reason we can't freely use our white dwarf formation.

I did change the title to say 30k & 40k rules, should I have created a new thread for it specifically? I guess I should be placing these threads in Other News and Rumors...

Oh no you're fine, I just don't want people referring back to this erroneously when discussing Betray's post about SoS.

I also don't know if we can definitively say that the new hover tank won't be HH only just from the 40k emblem at the top. That could certainly be refering to the event, which is 40k focused and still showcases a lot of new HH stuff.
