Subject: To magnatize or not to magnatize... Talos Tue Jul 13 2021, 05:04
I've been putting together a small coven detachment that (tentatively) includes a talos, and I'd like a little feed back on how often I'd wish I had a cronos instead before I start gluing parts in place.
In my research it seems like if a list includes a pain engine it's generally a talos, and I haven't found anyone who has played the cronos. The wound regen seems really situational, and having the extra parts to convert some grotesques in the future appeals to me too.
Some feedback on if the cronos is worth magnatizing the kit for would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

How long do you intend to be in the hobby?
Every 2-5 years we get a new edition of the game, where core rules and mission parameters change. We also get new codex after that, plus maybe a campaign suppliment. And then the META changes based on what all the other armies get in those BRB/Codex/Suppliment changes.
That means we are adjusting our lists every few months (or every few weeks if you plan on playing Competitively).
Even if you are playing beer-hammer in your buddies garage, you would want to have the option to change out your Anti Tank weaponry to Anti Infantry.

I agree with everything Fisheyes says above. In regards to the Talos/Chronos question, Chronos seem to be the choice du jour. Talos are combat specialists in a book filled with combat specialists and they cost more than chronos too.
Chronos have better shooting power, give a re-roll 1s to wound in melee aura (which also works on themselves), they can bring models back from the dead, and if they finish off a unit, you can play a 1CP strat to count them or another unit within 6" of them turn 5 PfP for the rest of the game.
I've put a unit of 2 Dark Technomancer Chronos in my competitive list and I've liked the results in the 2 practice games I've run them in. Going to try them in a tournament this weekend.

I bet, a lot of people with Liquifier Taloi now wish, they had them magnetized.
Btw, its Taloi and Chronoi. At least it was...

Thank you for the input. I'll make sure to magnatize both variants. Happy hunting>

Hahaha, I feel like the plural for Talos is Taloi, but Chronos would still be Chronos.
Nothing to back that up, just my own head-cannon

Talos and Chronos are both Greek gods, so they don't have an established pluralization. But Talus and Cronus are alternate spellings of the names, so if anything they'd be pluralized to Tali (TaaL-eye) or Chroni (Crone-eye) like most other words which end in "-us".
But who knows, maybe it's one of those random exceptions for reasons that are beyond my understanding like "octopodes" and "rhinocerotes".
Yep, going with Talodes and Chronotes

The Octopodes thing was explained quite nicely in the first minute or so of this:

I use Cronos and Talos for singular and plural and I don't care if I'm wrong.
