850 Tourney list

Hi guys,

As a bit of a challenge for myself, I grabbed a bunch of DE stuff recently. Then the opportunity to play at a tournament came up, so pretty keen to see how all this goes.

I need to come up with an 850pt list, but my available models are kinda limited, which restricts my choices a far bit.

I have:
1x Archon
1x Drazhir
5x Incubi
10x Wyches
20x Warriors
5x Scourges
9x Classic Reavers (old ones)
3x Raiders
1x Ravager

I've tried a few times to come up with lists from this bunch, but they tend to feel either... like I'm one unit short and have too many upgrades, or like I'm too fragile / ineffective and too 'spread out'.

Here's probably my best one so far:

Archon + Huskblade + Shadowfield
Incubi x 5
Raider w. Disintegrator, Flickerfield

Warriors x 10 with Splinter Cannon
Raider w. Disintegrator, Night Shield, Splinter Racks

Warriors x 9 with Splinter Cannon
Sybarite w. Splinter Rifle, Ghostplate

Wyches x5 with Haywire
Raider w. Disintegrator, Flickerfield

Ravager w. Dark Lances, Night Shield



But yeah, seriously - any advice you guys can offer would be awesome.

PS. I do have some cheap Venoms and a Razorwing on the way, and will probably go out and pick up a Haemy as well, but for now I'm limited to this bunch unless my mail order arrives faster than expected.

Incubi x 5
Raider w. Disintegrator, Flickerfield Give the Archon a Phantasm Grenade Launcher (if you run him with Incubi) and a Soul Trap. I don't like to take a Husktrap Archon without Drugs and a Venom Blade, so I'd throw them on too. The Incubi look fine. The raider would want a Dark Lance normally, and a set of Night Shields is now more useful than a Flickerfield, thanks to Jink. However, I find Incubi to be a bit too expensive at low points games. Drop the Incubi, and up the Wych squad to eight models and put the Archon in there; they should be able to handle most threats, especially after a warrior boat or two rake the target with shots first.

Warriors x 10 with Splinter Cannon
Raider w. Disintegrator, Night Shield, Splinter Racks Always a solid unit to run, in my experience. But I prefer to put a Dark Lance on the Raider.

Warriors x 9 with Splinter Cannon
Sybarite w. Splinter Rifle, Ghostplate Needs a boat, more than anything else. Which is why I recommend dropping the Incubi from this list. The Raider will work best as the same build as the other squad's. Looks good otherwise, but I find that Ghostplate is a waste on Sybarites.

Wyches x5 with Haywire
Raider w. Disintegrator, Flickerfield My comments on this unit are above, mostly. Put another 2-3 Wyches in, make them the new Archon escort, and maybe a Hekatrix with a weapon of your choice (usually an agoniser for a marine heavy metagame, or a venom blade for a horde-heavy metagame.) The raider gets the suggestions I've been making. Dark Lance, drop the flickerfield, and take Night Shields.

Ravager w. Dark Lances, Night Shield I don't need to comment on this vehicle; it's a staple of my lists in this configuration for many reasons.

Advice is in red. If you have leftover points, a reaver squad is rarely a bad buy. Heat Lances on a mobile and relatively resilient platform make for very good anti-tank.

have four points left over, which is awkward. If i drop the Scourges to Haywire Blasters, then I do get enough points to upgrade the Hexatrix with a Venom Blade... but Heat Lances do seem rather good.


Kinda hoping my Venoms show up in the mail on friday - but also keen to just try this out and see how it goes.

If you want to run scourges run them with HWB instead of Heat Lances. The Lances are very good but makes the unit a suicide commando. Also, deepstriking with then behind an enemy tank is risky because of scatter, you might not even end up in melta-range. Too many what-ifs for me, HWB are more reliable.

Then buy the succubus a Venom Blade to up her killing potential. Archon really needs a Shadowfield, otherwise you could just as well take a succubus. So either shave some points (from night shields for example, even though they're awesome) and buy your archon a shadowfield or downgrade him to a succubus with venom blade. Put any excess points in extra wyches if possible.
