Fluff Advice

hi guys just seeking some advice as I'm still new to the DE and haven't read as much as I know alor of you have,

I've been looking to theme my force and have been looking through the Kabals and Cults on the website here. I would consider writing my own but feel with my lack of knowledge of the DE at present this may be quite a stretch and produce some mediocre results at least to begin with.

So onto what i wanted to ask...

In the DE codex I remember reading about Kabals paying large sums to go to battle with the wych cults and reading through the short backgrounds on here I've descoverd some favourites from a fluff perspective but ones that also combine colour wise so my force won't become too much of a mish mash.
I wanted to know if there would be any reason why the Cult of Red Strife wouldn't work with the Kabal of the Obsidian Rose? I could imagine that due to the Kabals speciality in splinter weaponry and the Archon being the "Queen fo Splinters" they would actively seek a high profile cult to assist in combat aspects in their realspace raids. As I said though this is of my own thinking and not so much based on fluff as I don't know much of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Kabals and Cults really don't need much of a reason to work with each other. Think of the Kabals as financial backers. They tend to be much larger than the Cults, especially the older the are.

Thanks for this, I have my 1st few models built and undercoated now and am stuck tryign to decide what I want to do colour wise.

Undecided weither to follow one of the standard cults and Kabals and possibly limit the flexibility of the story or to just pick some colours with a faint idea of a cult and build up the fluff as I learn about the DE creating my own Cult and Kabal.

Going to paint up a test model or two but think I might swing towards the DIY cult in the end.
