Greetings fellow Archons and Succubi who are 'restructuring' your Kabals, I am in need of a suggestion or 2 or experiences ..

I am trying out the product called Insta-Mold- a translucent polymer material that you soak in hot water and then press you needed bit model, etc into and once cool, remove your original and start casting.
I am in need of some extra bits and rather than fighting over stuff on ebay or whatever i have decided to try this out.
Well I have tried one part so far, actually a 2 part front back.. the image in the material looks pretty damn good on both pieces ,so NOW I need to try 'casting' it... the company suggests green stuff or other material that does not need or generate heat to cure.
Green stuff is too hard for the part I am doing, has quite a bit of detail. Have any of you tried this and what has ,has not worked for you?
I have used a lot of the 2 part epoxies in my years for repairs but most generate heat or may even adhere to the insta mold...... and none of the craft/art supplies stores locally have any cold setting 2 part resin. I WAS maybe going to try... ugh... liquid green stuff since it 'flows' BUT I have no idea if it will cure in a thick part....

Thank you in advance for your replies and suggestions.

PS-and yes I feel a bit better now about the codex.. still pissed they killed off fluff, wargear and the new WWP rules blow, should be optional to deepstrike ,no scatter OR the old way, plop it out, have UNITS come through..... not just one..... again, GW killing the style/backstory/fluff......

Hi,

I also used Oyamaru paste (the original name of instant mold and cheaper). I cast some DE bits with good result. I tried various resin but the one I get better result is smooth-cast 320 from Smooth-on.
On a 50-50 mix ration, it cure in 2-3 mn. I also use baby powder to lubricate the mold. To do 2 face casting, I do a 2 haves mold of the piece, then I cast the resin on both side and when the resin begin to cure I press both mold together and maintain them with a clip. That you don't have to create a mold with venting holes and casting dwell.

If green stuff is their suggestion but it's too hard for your purpose, maybe try either Grey or Brown Stuff. One is harder, one is softer, but I can't remember which is which.

Just my best guess, I don't really know anything about the process. I use glass-filled nylon for the stuff I cast, but I doubt it'd be readily available in the quantities you want Razz

Yea glass filled nylon is a bit overkill for minis and bits, unless I want glittery or mini porcupine looking minis and parts! Razz lol!
