| In a scalpel squadron, I would make an acothyst simply for the range weapon choices, as after they have done their 1st turn DS, the only things that will be shooting (and which is not a bad shooter) would be the venoms with a single SC and a snap shot of the other SC. The hexrifle has the range, the ossefactor has the chance of additional hits, plus a great AP. Both of these rely on a BS of 4. The liquifier, being template, is limited range, but could help the wracks on their assault, or in overwatch, depending on how the tides turn. What are your feelings on this? | |

| 1. Venoms can fire both weapons after DS - they are fast and as such can shoot all weapons while moving up to 6" (DS now counts as combat speed, not cruising speed) 2. The venoms won't have WWP's to prevent scatter, so template weapons are not a reliable option - effectively you have a 1/3 chance of arriving where you want. I'd prefer to go with an ossefactor on each venom and give the acothyst a hexrifle. | |

They can still fire both at cruising speed too. - Quote :
- Fast vehicles that moved at Cruising Speed can fire up to two weapons using their full Ballistic
Skill – other weapons can only make Snap Shots.

| So why can't you take ravagers? I mean if you can take raiders and venoms why can't wracks fly ravagers? | |

| Since the Arcothyst can't have an Ossefactor, I tried the Hexrifle when I was proxying Wracks before building mine. That one extra shot didn't do much of anything in my (limited) experience. I'm tending to the Liquifier, it's useful for overwatch at least. | |

| if you get lucky, the double liquifier venom is VERY nice. three problems though: you have to get REAL close to the unit to use them and hope you dont scatter on them or farther away (although this is mitigated by disembarking remember), there are few times where needing an extra AP2 wound is necessary where you dont want to gamble on variable AP (my ossifactor scalpel squads wrecked a dreadknight for first blood two days ago, but my two liquifiers rolled 6's on AP versus pathfinders and only killed one), and lastly you have to judge the worth of the extra points. | |

| You can't have 2 Liquifiers in a venom. Oh, wait, you mean on an acothyst as well?

| I like TWO Scalpel Squadrons, all with Osseofactor and Hex Rifle (Acothyst)
48 poisoned shots 4 Osseofactor (that's the Italian name, the 24" shot AP2) 4 Hex Rifle
All in a First-Turn DeepStrike
