Help needed from the community - What to begin with?

Hello Succubuses, Archons, Haemoncului, and other dark kin I need your help.

I plan on partaking in the Facing the Grey Tides' hobby budget challenge starting next month.

The trouble I am facing is how should I start a new Dark Eldar army with a monthly budget constraint?

The rules are each month I have US $75 dollars to spend on models for the army. I can at one time during the event double my allowance. The event will last for 6 months.

The question is: What would suggest a newbie to the army to bring to a 1000 pt battle? I will then take the army list suggestions and then break them down in purchasable chunks and go from there.

Do you plan to go coven or more kabalite for your force?

A good starting point is warriors in raiders ( two 10 man squads should do to start), an archon for hq and then fill with stuff you think looks cool

Thank you for your reply. I envision the army to be a kabalite force with 1-2 of the coven detachments for extra flavor.

Does it have to be purchased directly from GW, or from w/e retailer you want? Also, if you don't spend some dollars in a month, does it carry over to the next month?

If the answers to these questions is "Whatever" and "Yes", then I would look online to find the now out of print "Dark Eldar Battleforce", which comes with:

10 Kabalite Warriors
10 Wyches
3 Reavers
1 Raider

You can find these online for between 90-100 dollars with shipping. So, I'd double your alowance for month 1, and get one of these. Then buy an archon. I'd save the other 30 dollars you have left to get another battleforce next month. Then, I'd continue to save money to buy either battleforces or shardstorms. They're the best bang for your buck, since you actually get the models cheaper than retail in these bundles.
