| Question that was posed to me the other day.
There is nothing in the assault rules that prohibits the use of psychic powers. So if you're in an assault, the next turn, can you cast gate of infinity and effectively gate out of the assault?
Conceptually, I don't think you should be able to, but could use some help in the rules to justify this.
the issue, is that locked in combat says you can't move "in the movement phase". It doesn't say you can't move in the psychic phase.

| Soooooo...
I guess I will take silence as confirmation that the user of gate of infinity can indeed do this.

| Based on this info - yes that appears correct. I need to double check the specific wording mind you | |

| I play Grey Knights as well as Dark Eldar, and yes we can do that. Gate of Infinity is a "Blessing" and blessings can be cast at any time. No different to us (grey knights) casting hammerhand or force. In a way its our own hit and run. | |

| And If I remember correctly there is nothing in the rules that allow opponent to consolidate after gateing away from cc.

| After re-reading the OP, I feel it necessary to note that while there is nothing in the Assault rules preventing you from casting powers, the Psychic rules do specify that you can't use witchfires while locked in combat. | |

| I think he was meaning if a unit containing a model with a WWP uses Gate of Infinity, will the resultant deep strike benefit from the no-scatter rule conferred by the WWP?
Which is a slightly contentious issue due to the wording of GoI, WWP, and how Deep Strike works - don't have time to explain it all but it's probably one for the Rules subforum

Unfortunately, gate of infinity is defined as a blessing (at least in the german rule book), therefore it seems to be legal to use this escape method in close combat.

| Farseers can take it. They are the best psykers to use it other than grey knights. | |

| Yep, totally legal. I was really disappointed when Tigurius lost the ability to reliably do this. I have been using GOI for years to pop units around the battlefield (usually Centurions or Sternguard, although for a while in 6th it was a Farsight bomb). Doing this with a Farseer and a WWP might be a worthwhile investment. | |

| Never said it wasn't legal, I just wanted to make sure the OP was aware of the witchfire thing, due to his wording it was open to interpretation whether he did or not. Just trying to be helpful.
Jimsolo, isn't there some inquisition dude who can Gate? Since he's BB with your SM that could work. Coteaz, maybe?
