1850 Dark Artisan List

Hello, was hoping to get a few games in this weekend and this was the list I was thinking of bringing.

The total for this list is 1846 (damn odd number on Reaver point value )

I think the list is pretty straight forward. I've been wanting to try out the DA formation, but haven't had a chance. This will be the first game I've gotten to play in a bit. The Archon will go with the Grots and I'll try to play fairly cautious with them and commit when needed. The Scourges will probably start on the board, but I may DS depending on map / terrain / mission.

My main concern is probably the low Raider count, as I tend to to take a lot of them. We'll see how it goes, I suppose.

This is mostly a fun list, but any criticism is welcome.

how did your game go?

It went pretty good. My main opponent is Plague Marines, so it's not a bad match up for me.

I ended up dropping the Grots for a unit of Trueborn and I took a really cheap Archon with WWP, Blaster in a raider with Blasteborn. I haven't used Trueborn in a while, so I kinda wanted to throw them into the list.

We ended up rolling a relic mission. I was able to get first turn and grab it with my bikes and then turn 2, DS my Artisan Formation near it and pretty much hold it the rest of the game. My Artisan Formation didn't really lay down a lot of pain, but they held the relic pretty well. I have to be really careful around a lot of his characters, because they're beasts and he has a decent amount of insta - kill weapons in the list.

i used a wwp dark artisan unit with liquifier on the talos and haemonculus. they came in and with lucky ap rolls wiped out 20 necrons and some named character by just getting 2 rounds of shooting with flamers before charge and then killed a monolith and tied up a cyan for 2 rounds off combat. I'm convinced I'm taking 2 dark artisans after that game, but now since christmas i got 10 grotesques to try a wwp grotesqueri formation so i can't wait...

well the DA unit could rely on luck a little, grots are just run in beat it up and move on

I've only been able to try the formation out a couple of times so far, but I've liked it both times.

My only concern with the formation is that depending on who you're playing, it's easy to avoid the unit. I played one game against and Eldar friend, and as it did charge and kill a late game WS (which was much needed), it didn't do much due to him just avoiding the unit. It may have toasted a unit of Dire Avengers prior to the WS, but that's about it.

I'll be using it for my next few games though, I think it's fun.

Your list and playstyle are both very different from my own but we both are new to using the Dark Artisan formation, so I'm very interested to see how things work out for you with them. Keep us posted!

I have also been toying with a Dark Artisan list backed up by a corpsethief claw formation for lols.

I would suggest trying out the nightmare doll as it combos nicely with the cronos. My thinking was similar to yours. Have a decemnt cc unit ( I am trying suucbus and incubi). take a squad a reavers, have at least one or two ravs.

Did your razorwing feel useful? Running a solo razor seems a little underwhelming.

The single RW usually has a pretty lack-luster showing. I generally take it for the extra two lances that come in turn 2+, and I can ping stuff that needs to be shot at, sometimes with success.

One time it came in and finished off an Imperial Knight, which was pretty cool.
